| Literal | And/by the scatterers/spreaders , scattering/spreading. |

| Shakir | Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; |

| Khalifa | Distributing them as commanded. |
| Hilali/Khan | And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allahs) Command; |

| Malik | then by those who distribute the big affair (rain);[4] |

[These symbolical epithets, consisting of adjectival participles without any mention of the nouns which they qualify, have been variously interpreted by the early commentators; but since there is a consensus of opinion regarding the first of these participles - adh-dhariyat - as denoting "dust-scattering winds", we may assume that the other three relate to different phases or manifestations of the same phenomenon (Razi) - namely, to the life-giving function of the combination of wind, clouds and rain - pointing, symbolically, to the miraculous creation of life as such and, thus, to the existence of a conscious, purposeful Creator.] |
| 51:5 انما توعدون لصادق |

| Literal | Truly/indeed what you are being promised is truthful/true (E) . |

| Yusuf Ali | Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, |
| Pickthal | Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). |
| Arberry | surely you speak at variance, |
| Shakir | Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, |
| Sarwar | your ideas are confused. |
| Khalifa | You continue to dispute the truth. |
| Hilali/Khan | Certainly, you have different ideas (about Muhammad SAW and the Quran). |
| H/K/Saheeh | Indeed, you are in differing speech. |
| Malik | surely you contradict one another in what you say,[8] |
| QXP | Behold, it is you humans who deviate from your course. |
| Maulana Ali | Surely you are of warying opinion -- |

| Qaribullah | surely, you are in different sayings, |

| George Sale | ye widely differ in what ye say. |

| 51:9 يؤفك عنه من افك |

| Literal | Who was lied to/turned away from it, he (will) be lied to/turned away. |

| 51:10 قتل الخراصون |

| 51:11 الذين هم في غمرة ساهون |

| Transliteration | Allatheena hum fee ghamratin sahoona |
| Literal | Those who, they are in an intoxication/hatred (are) careless/negligent . |

| Yusuf Ali | Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: |
| Pickthal | Who are careless in an abyss! |
| Arberry | who are dazed in perplexity |
| Shakir | Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; |

| Khalifa | In their blundering, they are totally heedless. |

| Literal | Taste/experience your misguidance/seduction this, which you were with it hurrying/hastening . |

| Pickthal | (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. |

| 51:15 ان المتقين في جنات وعيون |

| Transliteration | Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin waAAuyoonin |
| Literal | That truly the fearing and obeying (are) in treed gardens/paradises and water springs/wells. |

| Yusuf Ali | As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, |
| Pickthal | Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, |
| Arberry | Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains |
| Shakir | Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. |
| Sarwar | The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, |
| Khalifa | The righteous have deserved gardens and springs. |
| Hilali/Khan | Verily, the Muttaqoon (pious - see V.2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), |

| Malik | As to the righteous, they will be in the midst of gardens and springs,[15] |
| QXP | Behold, in the midst of Gardens and springs are those who walked aright. |
| Maulana Ali | Surely the dutiful are amidst Gardens and fountains, |
| Free Minds | The righteous are in paradises and springs. |
| Qaribullah | The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, |

| George Sale | But the pious shall dwell among gardens and fountains, |

| 51:16 اخذين مااتاهم ربهم انهم كانوا قبل ذلك محسنين |

| Transliteration | Akhitheena ma atahum rabbuhum innahum kanoo qabla thalika muhsineena |
| Literal | Taking what their Lord gave them, that they were before that good doers. |
| |

| Yusuf Ali | Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. |
| Pickthal | Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; |
| Arberry | taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. |
| Shakir | Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. |
| Sarwar | receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. |

| Malik | joyfully receiving what their Lord shall give them; for they were before that (during their life on earth) righteous people,[16] |

| Maulana Ali | Taking that which their Lord gives them. Surely they were before that the doers of good. |

| 51:17 كانوا قليلا من الليل مايهجعون |

| Transliteration | Kanoo qaleelan mina allayli ma yahjaAAoona |
| Literal | They were little from the night what they (spend in) sleep . |

| Yusuf Ali | They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, |
| Pickthal | They used to sleep but little of the night, |
| Arberry | Little of the night would they slumber, |
| Shakir | They used to sleep but little in the night. |
| Sarwar | They slept very little during the night |
| Khalifa | Rarely did they sleep the whole night. |

| 51:19 وفي اموالهم حق للسائل والمحروم |

| Literal | When they entered on him, so they said: "A greeting/security/peace." He said: "A greeting/security/peace (you) unknown/disguised nation." |

| Literal | So he felt inner horror/fear from them, they said: "Do not fear." And they announced good news to him with a knowledgeable boy (son) . |

| Yusuf Ali | (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. |

| Pickthal | Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! |
