Surah “The Overthrowing, The Cessation”

as rendered by Zulfiquar Ali Bhotto — 29 verses

When the sun is wrapped up
And when the stars fall,
And when the mountains are caused to travel
And when full-term she-camels are forsaken
And when the wild beasts are gathered
And when the seas are set on fire
And when the souls are paired
And when the girl [who was] buried alive was to ask
About what sin she was killed,
And when the pages are published
And when the heaven is unveiled
And when Hellfire is set ablaze
And when the Paradise is brought near,
A soul will [then] know what it had brought.
No but is there [Qur'an 81:14]. I swear by the retreating stars,
The runners, the hiders,
By the night when it comes [and goes],
By the morning when it breathes,
Indeed, it [the Qur'an] is surely a speech through a noble [Prophet Muhammad],
Possessor of [leadership] power as demonstrated in the presence of the Owner of the Throne;
[For example] he was obeyed there being trustworthy [by you, before he first saw Gabriel].
And your companion [Muhammad] is not mad.
And certainly He saw him [angel Gabriel] in the obvious horizon.
And He [Muhammad] is not upon the unseen, niggardly [discloses everything as is].
And it [the Qur'an] is not the saying of a cursed devil.
So where are you heading?
Left is nothing for it [the Qur'an] to be except a reminder to the worlds,
For whoever among you [people], wants to straighten.
But you do not will except that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, wills.
