A surah. We have sent it down and imposed it and revealed therein proof verses perhaps you may be paying heed.
The adulteress and adulterer - so lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and let not having a sympathy with them detain you concerning Allah's religion, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.
The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or idolatress, and the adulteress does not marry except a fornicator or an idolater. And forbidden that upon the believers.
And those who accuse chaste women [of adultery] and then do not bring with four witnesses - lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept in the least their testimony ever. And those are the defiantly disobedient,
Except for those who have repented afterwards and mended. For indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and are not having for their accusation witnesses except themselves - then let the witness of one of them be four oaths by Allah that indeed, he is indeed of the truthful,
And the fifth is that the curse of Allah be upon him if he is of the liar.
And what will prevent the punishment from her is that she testifies in oaths four times by Allah that indeed, he is of the liars,
And the fifth would be that the wrath of Allah be upon her if he was of the truthful.
And if not for the favour of Allah upon you and His mercy and surely Allah is Relenting, Wise.
Indeed, those who brought with the falsehood are a gang from you [people]. Do not consider it as bad for you. No but is there! It is good for you. For every person from them is what he has earned of the sin, and whoever from them took upon himself the greater portion of it, for him is a great punishment.
Why when you heard it, the believing men and believing women did not think well about themselves and say, "This is an obvious falsehood"?
Why did they not bring four witnesses upon it [the accusation]? And when they do not bring about the witnesses, then those, in the sight of Allah, they would be the liars.
And if it had not been the grace of Allah upon you [people] and His mercy in the world and the Hereafter, you would have been touched in what you have gone too far concerning it, a great punishment
When you have cast it with your tongues and said with your mouths that which you had no knowledge thereof and thought it was trivial while it was, in the sight of Allah, greatly serious.
And why not when you heard it, you said, "It is not for us to say about this. Exalted are You, [O Allah]; this is a great slander"?
Allah warns you that you should never return to the likes of this [immoral conduct], if you should be believers.
And Allah makes the verses manifest for you, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
Indeed, those who like that, [Qur'an 24:17] immorality should be spread out in those who have believed, for them is a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know.
And if it had not been for the favour of Allah upon you and His mercy, and that Allah is Kind, Merciful.
O you who believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan - then indeed, he enjoins all about the immorality and the evil. And if not the favour of Allah upon you and His mercy, none of you would have been purified, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
And those from you having bounty and multitude should not swear - left is nothing that they could give to their relatives and the needy and the emigrants in the way of Allah. And let them pardon and let them condone. Do you not love that Allah forgives to you? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Indeed, those who accuse chaste women, the unaware, and the believing women, are cursed in this world and the Hereafter. And for them is a a great torment.
On a Day when their tongues, their hands and their feet will bear witness against them about what they were working.
That Day, Allah will fulfill them in full their testimony, the truth, and they will know that Allah, He is The Truth, The Manifest.
The wicked women are for the wicked men, and the wicked men are for the wicked women. And the good women are for the good men, and the good men are for the good women. Those people are innocent of whatever they are accusing. For them is forgiveness and a noble provision.
O you who believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you have asked permission and have greeted upon their inhabitants. That is best for you; perhaps you will be remembering.
So if you find therein no one then do not enter there until permission has been given you. And if it is said to you, "Go back," then go back; it is purer for you. And Allah is Knowing about what you are working.
There is no blame upon you for entering abandoned houses in which there are belongings to yours. And Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal.
Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Aware about whatever they make.
And say to the believing women to lower their eyes [carrier ambition] and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to draw their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stomp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, altogether, O believers, that you might succeed.
And marry off the singles [male, female] from you and the righteous from your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing, Knowing.
And let those who find not [the means] to wed keep abstaining until Allah enriches them from His bounty. And those [slaves] who seek the book [of emancipation] for whatever wealth your right hands owned [them], then contract with them [accordingly], if you know there is in them fairness. And bring them of the wealth of Allah which He has brought you. And do not compel your slave girls upon prostitution, if they desire chastity, to seek the temporary interests of worldly life. And whoever compels them, then Allah would be only after their compulsion, Forgiving and Merciful.
And We have certainly sent down to you [people] clear verses and examples from those who passed away before you and an admonition for those who guard their consciousness of Allah.
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light is like a niche in which is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, the glass as if it were a bright shining star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whomever He wills. And Allah sets forth examples for the mankind, and Allah about every thing is Knowing.
In houses Allah has permitted that to be raised and mentioned His name therein; exalting only Him therein in the morning and the evenings
[Those] men whom no trade distracts them nor sale from the remembrance of Allah and establishing the prayer and giving the Zakat. They fear a Day wherein the hearts and eyes would be overturned -
That Allah may reward them [as per] the best of what they worked and increase them from His bounty. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account.
But those who disbelieved - their deeds are like a mirage in a lowland that a thirsty one thinks to be water until, when he comes to it, he finds there nothing but finds Allah with him. So He fulfilled him in full his reckoning; and Allah is swift in account.
Or [they are] like darknesses in a deep sea which is covered by waves, above which are waves, above which are clouds - darknesses, some of them are above others. When one drives out his hand, he will hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not made for him light- so for him there would be no light.
Do you not see that Allah made the appraisal for that whichever is in the heavens and the earth and the birds wings outspread? Each one already had known its prayer and its exalting [in revealed format], and Allah is Knowing about that which they are performing.
And to Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and to Allah is the destiny.
Do you not see that Allah drives clouds? Then He unites between it, then He makes it into a mass, so you see the rain comes from through it. And He sends down from the sky, from the mountains, of hails [rain, landslide] through the cloud, and He strikes by it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightening almost takes away the eyesight.
Allah alternates the night and the day. Indeed in that is indeed a lesson for those who have vision.
Allah has created every [living] creature from water. And of them exists a kind that moves on its belly, and of them exists a kind that walks on two legs, and of them exists a kind that walks on four. Allah creates what He wills. Indeed, Allah is competent over every thing.
We have certainly sent down manifesting verses. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.
And they say, "We have believed in Allah and in the Messenger, and we obey"; then a party of them turns away after that. And those are not in the believers.
And when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to establish [whatever is called for] between them, at once a party of them turns away.
But if the right is theirs, they come to him in prompt obedience.
Is there disease in their hearts? Or are they doubting? Or are they fearing that Allah will be oppressive upon them, and His Messenger? No but is there [they do have disease]. It is those, they are the oppressors.
The only statement of the believers when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to establish [whatever is called for] between them is that they say, "We hear and we obey." And it is those, they are the successful ones.
And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah and is conscious of Him - so those are the successful ones.
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you [O Muhammad] ordered them, they would go forth [in Allah 's way]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is well-known. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted about whatever you are working."
Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; So if you turn away - then upon him is only what he was charged, and upon you what you were charged. And if you [people] obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [duty for] obvious notification."
Allah has promised those who believed from you and worked the righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession in the earth just as He granted succession to those before them and that He will surely empower for them their religion, which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security. They worship Me, not associating anything with Me. And whoever disbelieved after that, then those, they are the defiantly disobedient.
And establish the prayers and give the zakah and obey the Messenger - so that you [O men] may receive mercy.
Do not think [O man] that those who disbelieve can frustrate [Allah's plan] in the earth. Their adobe is the Fire - and so wretched the destination is!
O you who believed, let those whom your right hands possess and those who have not [yet] reached puberty from you ask your permission [before entering your presence] at three times: before the dawn prayer and when you put aside your clothing [for rest] at noon and after the night prayer. [These are] three times of privacy for you. There is no blame upon you nor upon them after that. They circumambulate upon you - some of you over some others. Thus Allah makes the verses manifest to you. And Allah is Knowing, Wise.
And when the children of yours reach puberty, let them ask permission [at all times] like those before them have done. Thus does Allah demonstrate to you His verses; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
And women of post-menstrual age who do no desire a marriage - then there is not upon them any blame that they put aside their outer garments without revealing their adornments. But if they modestly refrain [from that] would be better for them. And Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
There is not upon the blind nor upon the lame nor upon the sick nor upon yourselves any blame that you eat from your [own] houses or the houses of your fathers or the houses of your mothers or the houses of your brothers or the houses of your sisters or the houses of your father's brothers or the houses of your father's sisters or the houses of your mother's brothers or the houses of your mother's sisters or [from houses] whose keys you possess or [from the house] of your friend. There is no blame upon you that you eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other - with a greeting from Allah, blessed and good. Thus does Allah demonstrate for you the verses so that you may understand.
The believers were only those who believed in Allah and His Messenger and, if they are with him for a matter necessitating group action, do not depart until they have asked him for permission. Indeed, those who ask your permission, [O Muhammad] - are those who believe in Allah and His Messenger. So if they ask your permission for something of their affairs, then give permission to whom you will from them and ask Allah's forgiveness for them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
Do not make [your] calling of the Messenger between you as the call some of you to some others. Already Allah knows those of you who slip away, concealing themselves. So those who dissent from the Prophet's command should be cautious, lest a test strike them or a painful punishment.
Verily, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Surely He knows what you [people] are there upon. And on a Day when they are returned to Him then He will inform them about what they worked. And Allah is about every thing, Knowing.
