And what struck you (on the) day (when) met the two hosts (was) by (the) permission (of) Allah and that He (might) make evident the believers.
and all that befell you on the day when the two hosts met in battle happened by God's leave, so that He might mark out the [true] believers
That which befell you, on the day when the two armies met, was by permission of Allah; that He might know the true believers
What ye suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers,
So what you suffered on the day the two armies met was by Allah’s Will, so that He might distinguish the ˹true˺ believers

And that which befell you, on the day when the two host met, was by ALLAH's command; and this was so that he might cause the believers to be distinguished
And the agony that hurt you on the day when the two armies clashed with each other came about (only) by Allah’s command. And (this happened) so that Allah establishes the identity of the believers
And that which befell you on the day when the two armies met (at Uhud), was so by the leave of Allah, and (it happened thus) so that He might distinguish the believers
And what you suffered (of the disaster) on the day (of the battle of Uhud when) the two armies met, was by the leave of Allah, in order that He might test the believers
And what visited you, the day the two hosts encountered, was by God's leave, and that He might know the believers
And what happened unto you, on the day whereon the two armies met, was certainly by the permission of God; and that he might know the faithful

And when the word was "Advance, fight on the path of God, or drive back the foe," - they said, "Had we known how to fight, we would have followed you." Nearer were some of them on that day to unbelief, than to faith
And the misfortune which befell you when the two armies met was ordained by God, so that He might know the true believer

So what struck you on the day when the two armies met was by the will of Allâh so that He might identify the ones who live by Faith

What ye suffered on the day the two armies Met, was with the leave of God, in order that He might test the believers,
