fa-immā tathqafannahum fī l-ḥarbi fasharrid bihim man khalfahum laʿallahum yadhakkarūn
So if you gain dominance over them in the war, disperse by them (those) who (are) behind them, so that they may take heed.
if thou find them at war [with you], make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them, so that they might take it to heart
If thou comest on them in the war, deal with them so as to strike fear in those who are behind them, that haply they may remember
If ye gain the mastery over them in war, disperse, with them, those who follow them, that they may remember
If you ever encounter them in battle, make a fearsome example of them, so perhaps those who would follow them may be deterred.
If you face them at war, make a fearsome example of them for those who follow them so that they may remember the Truth.
Should you encounter them in war, then deal with them in such a manner that those that follow them should abandon their designs and may take warning
Therefore if you overtake them in fighting, then scatter by (making an example of) them those who are in their rear, that they may be mindful
So if thou hast come upon them in war, then, break them up, whoever is behind them, so that perhaps they will recollect.
Should you encounter them in war, then use them to frighten off anyone who comes in their rear, so that they may (all) learn a lesson.
If you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them so that they may learn a lesson.
So if thou comest upon them in war, use them to scatter those who will come after them, that haply they might be reminded
If you encounter them in battle, make them a fearsome example for others who follow them, so they may take heed.
If you confront them in battle, make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them, that they may take heed
So if you interlock (yourself) with them in War — then by (routing) them strike terror in those that are behind them per chance they get admonition
If you encounter them in combat, make them a fearsome example for others who would follow them so that they all may learn a lesson
So definitely in case you ever catch them in the war, then deal with them so as to disperse the ones (who1..are) behind them, that possibly they would constantly remember
When you capture the (unbelievers) during a fight, teach them a lesson so that they thereafter will always be aware of the threat of your power
So, if you find them in war, deal with them in a way that those behind them have to disperse fearfully, so that they take a lesson
When you encounter them in war, deal with them to set an example for those who come after them, that they may remember
Therefore, if you overcome them on the battlefield, deal with them very sternly, so as to strike terror among them, and to serve as a lesson for their successors. Perhaps, they would remember
So if you win victory over them in war deal with them, and scatter them (and) those who follow them, that they may remember
So if you, [O Muhammad], gain dominance over them in war, disperse by [means of] them those behind them that perhaps they will be reminded
So, when you encounter them in battle, set them as an example to those who would come after them; perhaps they may remember
If you meet them in battle, make a fearsome example of them to those who come after them, so that they may take heed
Wherefore if thou over-takest them in war, disperse thou through them those behind them, that haply they may be admonished
If you meet them in battle, inflict on them such a defeat as would be a lesson for those who come after them, and that they may be warned
So if you come upon such people in war, make a harsh example of them to deter those coming after them so that hopefully they will pay heed.
If you meet them in war, deal with them in such a manner as to deter those behind them (who follow them and those who will come after them), so that they may reflect and be mindful
So if you confront them in battle, treat them [in such a wise] as to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may take admonition
Should you come to war with them, then deal with them so as to strike fear into those who come after them (as an example), that per chance (or possibly) they may remember
So, if you defeat them in war, then by their (example), scare anyone who (comes) following them, so that they may take notice.
If you gain an advantage over them in war, then remind those who follow them, so they may consider
Whenever you come across them in battle crush them so that those who come after them may learn a lesson.
So if you meet them in war, make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them that they may he admonished
So, when you encounter them in battle, set them as an example for those who will come after them; perhaps they may remember.
And if you face them in war, make a deterrent example of them for those who would follow them
Therefore, if you find them anywhere in war, kill them in such a manner that their remaining ones may be put to flight. Haply they may be admonished.
Therefore, if you encounter them in war, you shall set them up as a deterrent example for those who come after them, that they may take heed.
if you meet them in battle, cause their example to scatter those behind them so that they remember
So if thou overtake them in war, scatter by them those who are behind them, that they may be mindful
So when you defeat/overtake them in the battle/war so expel/separate with them from behind them, maybe/perhaps they mention/remember
Consequently, if you meet them in combat, make of them such an example that those who dare to come after them think twice
So if you find them in battle, kill them in a manner which makes those behind them scamper back, in the hope that they may learn a lesson
So, if thou overcomest them in war, then thereby strike fear in those that are behind them, that they may be mindful
So if you come upon them in the battlefield, then by killing them (for violating the peace treaty) in an exemplary manner, make those who are behind them (also) run on their heels so that they may learn a lesson of warning
Therefore if you find these (breakers of trust) in battle array, then (by inflicting an exemplary punishment upon them) disperse those behind them so that they may be admonished
So if you gain the mastery over them in war, punish them severely in order to disperse those who are behind them, so that they may learn a lesson
So, if thou comest upon them anywhere in the war, deal with them in such wise as to scatter the ones behind them; haply they will remember

but shouldst thou ever catch them in war, then make those who come after them run by their example, haply they may remember then
If thou take them in war, then, by the example of their fate, scatter those who shall follow them - that they may be warned

If it happens that you encounter them in battle, then disperse, by making them an example for those who will come after them so that they may be warned.

If you defeat them in battle, use them [ie, the harsh example of the defeat] to oust those behind them so that (those who follow them) may take heed.
So if you confront them in battle, then make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them, that they may constantly remember.
Should you encounter them in war, then break them up to frighten off anyone who comes in their rear, so that they may (all) learn a lesson.
So, when you arrest them in the war, so displaced them, perhaps whoever is behind them may be remembered.
Should you meet them in battle, make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them, so that they may reflect and take it to heart.
If you catch them in war, disperse them and those behind them that perhaps they will take a lesson.
So, when you confront them in war, (by punishing them) scatter the ones behind them so that they might be admonished
Therefore, whenever and wherever you Muslims meet them in an active hostile contention, reduce them into a useless form to set an example of their humiliation serving as a deterrent to those who attempt thereafter to war against you
Then if you dominate them in war, disperse them (in such a manner that) those who succeed (them not being present with) them, they (too) may be mindful.
If you definitely find them in the war, then make those who are behind them run by them, perhaps they may remember.
If ye gain the mastery over them in war, disperse, with them, those who follow them, that they may remember
So if you gain dominance over them in the war, disperse by them (those) who (are) behind them, so that they may take heed
