andyou may not know ˹O Prophet˺, that he ˹the blind man˺ mightpurify himself
But what would make you know that he might purify himself,
Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity
What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?
You never know ˹O Prophet˺, perhaps he may be purified,
For all you know, he might be seeking to purify himself?
for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself
And what would make you know that he would purify himself
And what will cause thee to recognize so that perhaps he will purify himself
What will make you realize that he may [yet] be purified (of disbelief)
And how can you know? He might become pure (from sins)
And what would apprise thee? Perhaps he would purify himself
And what makes you know? Perhaps he might purify himself.
But how do you know? Perhaps he was seeking to purify himself
And what shall make you realise, perchance he might become pure (of sins)
How could you tell? He might have sought to purify himsel
And what makes you (The prophet) realize whether he (The blind man (Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum) would possibly (try) to cleanse himself

What could tell you (O prophet about the prospects of the blind man?) May be, (if you had attended him properly,) he would have attained purity
How could you know that he might have grown in goodness
You don´t really know! Perhaps he would (shed his disbelief, and) grow in faith
But what could tell you (O Prophet) but that he (the blind man) might by chance grow (in his understanding)

for all you know, he might have grown in spirit
How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed
What made you think that he will not grow in virtue

What would inform you (O haughty one) but that he might grow in purity (by doing good deeds)
And how do you know, maybe he would purify himself
And what would make you know that he would grow (spiritually
And how would you know? He may purify himself
But how could you know whether he might be purified

And what makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purify?
And what do you know? He might reform [to become a righteous man]
And what you know, haply he might be cleansed;
How do you know? He may purify himself
And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified
And what would make thee know that he might purify himself
And what makes you know/informs you maybe/perhaps he, he purifies/corrects (himself)
How would you know that by attending to him and answering his questions he would not turn into a …
And what do you know, he may be of the pure
And what would make thee know that he would purify himself
And what do you know? Perhaps he would be purified (further owing to your attending to him)
And what could make you (O Prophet!) know that he might purify himself
But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)
And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him
And how dost thou know whether he shall peradventure be cleansed from his sins
But what should make thee know whether haply he may be purified
But what assured thee that he would not be cleansed by the Faith
How could you¹ tell? He might have sought to purify himself
And for all that you know perhaps he may come to sanctify his soul.
How would you know? Probably he came to you seeking spiritual growth,
And how can you tell that he might have purified himself,
How do you [O Prophet] know whether he may have corrected himself?
But what could make yousg realize that perhaps he was seeking to purify himself,
What will make you realize that he may [yet] be purified (of disbelief)
And what cognize you.? Perhaps he might be refined.
How could you tell? He might have sought to purify himself.
How do you know, perhaps he might be purified!
And how would you know? -- maybe he would grow in purit

"You Muhammad do not know; he -the blind man- may well hug faith to his innermost thoughts and to his innermost being and commend his secret feelings to Allah
And what will make you realize that he might have purified himself,
And what would make you know perhaps he may purify himself,
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?
But what would make you know that he might purify himself
