O Prophet, be mindful of God and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. God is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Follow what is revealed to you from your Lord. God is fully aware of what you do.
Put your trust in God. God is sufficient as a Guardian.
God has not placed two hearts inside any man's chest. He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful by saying they are like your mothers' backs actually your mothers. He has not made your adopted sons your real sons. These are just words from your mouths, but God speaks the truth and He guides to the right path.
Call them by their fathers' names, that is more just in God's sight. If you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in faith and your allies. There is no blame on you for honest mistakes, only for what your hearts deliberately intend. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
The Prophet has more claim over the believers than they have over themselves, and his wives are their mothers. Blood relatives have more claim over one another in God's Book than other believers and emigrants, though you may still show kindness to your allies. This has been written in the Book.
Remember when We took a covenant from the prophets, from you, from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus son of Mary. We took from them a solemn covenant.
This was so He may question the truthful about their truthfulness. He has prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers.
O you who believe, remember God's favor upon you when armies came against you, and We sent upon them a wind and forces you could not see. God sees everything you do.
They came at you from above and from below, and eyes shifted wildly, and hearts rose to throats, and you harbored doubts about God.
There the believers were tested and shaken with a severe shaking.
The hypocrites and those with sickness in their hearts said, "God and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusion."
A group of them said, "People of Yathrib, there is no position for you here, so turn back." Another group asked the Prophet for permission, saying, "Our homes are exposed," when they were not exposed. They only wanted to flee.
Had the city been invaded from all sides and they were asked to abandon their faith, they would have done so with little hesitation.
They had already pledged to God before that they would never turn their backs. A pledge to God will be questioned.
Say, "Fleeing will not benefit you if you flee from death or killing, and even then you would only enjoy life for a little while."
Say, "Who can protect you from God if He intends harm for you, or if He intends mercy for you?" They will find no protector or helper besides God.
God knows those among you who hold others back and say to their brothers, "Come join us," while they themselves rarely engage in battle.
Grudging toward you, when fear comes you see them looking at you, their eyes rolling like someone overtaken by death. But when the fear passes, they lash you with sharp tongues, greedy for any gain. These have not believed, so God has rendered their deeds worthless. That is easy for God.
They think the confederates have not withdrawn. If the confederates were to return, they would wish they were in the desert among the Bedouins, asking for news about you. Even if they were among you, they would fight only a little.
You have in the Messenger of God a beautiful example for anyone who hopes in God and the Last Day and remembers God often.
When the believers saw the confederate forces, they said, "This is what God and His Messenger promised us, and God and His Messenger spoke the truth." It only increased them in faith and submission.
Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with God. Some of them have fulfilled their vow, and some are still waiting, and they have not changed in the least.
So that God may reward the truthful for their truthfulness and punish the hypocrites if He wills, or turn to them in mercy. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
God drove back the disbelievers in their rage, having gained nothing. God spared the believers from fighting. God is Powerful, Mighty.
He brought down those of the People of the Scripture who supported them from their fortresses and cast terror into their hearts. You killed some and took others captive.
He made you inherit their land, their homes, their wealth, and a land you had never set foot on. God has power over all things.
O Prophet, say to your wives, "If you desire the life of this world and its adornments, then come, I will provide for you and release you with a gracious release."
But if you desire God and His Messenger and the Home of the Hereafter, then God has prepared a magnificent reward for those among you who do good.
O wives of the Prophet, whoever among you commits a clear indecency will have her punishment doubled twice over. That is easy for God.
Whoever among you is devoutly obedient to God and His Messenger and does righteous deeds, We will give her reward twice over, and We have prepared for her a generous provision.
O wives of the Prophet, you are not like any other women. If you are mindful of God, then do not speak in soft tones, lest one in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak words that are appropriate.
Settle in your homes and do not display yourselves as in the former days of ignorance. Establish Prayer, give Charity, and obey God and His Messenger. God only wants to remove impurity from you, O People of the Household, and to purify you completely.
Remember what is recited in your homes of the verses of God and wisdom. God is Subtle, All-Aware.
The Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the devout men and devout women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard it, and the men who remember God often and the women who remember Him: God has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when God and His Messenger have decided a matter, to have any choice in their affair. Whoever disobeys God and His Messenger has clearly gone astray.
When you said to the one whom God had blessed and whom you had blessed, "Keep your wife and be mindful of God," you were hiding in your heart what God was about to reveal, fearing people when God is more worthy of your fear. So when Zaid had ended his relationship with her, We married her to you, so that there would be no blame on the believers regarding the wives of their adopted sons once they have ended their relationship with them. God's command is always fulfilled.
There is no blame on the Prophet for what God has ordained for him. This has been God's way with those who passed before, and God's command is a decree determined.
Those who deliver God's messages and fear Him, fearing no one except God. God is sufficient as a reckoner.
Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of God and the seal of the prophets. God has knowledge of all things.
O you who believe, remember God with frequent remembrance.
And glorify Him morning and evening.
He is the One who blesses you, and His angels, to bring you out of darkness into light. He is ever merciful to the believers.
Their greeting on the Day they meet Him will be, "Peace." He has prepared for them a generous reward.
O Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news, and a warner.
And as one who calls to God by His permission, and as a radiant lamp.
Give the believers good news that they will have great favor from God.
Do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites, ignore their abuse, and put your trust in God. God is sufficient as a guardian.
O you who believe, when you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, you have no waiting period to count against them. So provide for them and release them graciously.
O Prophet, We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their compensation, and those your right hand possesses from what God has granted you, and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you, and a believing woman who gives herself to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to marry her, exclusively for you, not for the believers. We know what We have imposed upon them concerning their wives and those their right hands possess, so that there be no discomfort upon you. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
You may defer any of them you wish and take to yourself any you wish, and if you desire any you had set aside, there is no blame upon you. That is more likely to delight their eyes and prevent their grief and satisfy them all with what you give them. God knows what is in your hearts. God is All-Knowing, Forbearing.
No women are lawful to you after this, nor may you exchange them for other wives, even if their beauty impresses you, except what your right hand possesses. God is ever watchful over all things.
O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless you are given permission for a meal, without waiting for its preparation. But when you are invited, enter, and when you have eaten, disperse without lingering for conversation. That disturbs the Prophet, and he is shy of you, but God is not shy of the truth. When you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a barrier. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. It is not for you to hurt the Messenger of God or ever marry his wives after him. That would be an enormity in the sight of God.
Whether you reveal something or conceal it, God has full knowledge of all things.
There is no blame upon them concerning their fathers, their sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, or those their right hands possess. Be mindful of God. God is Witness over all things.
God and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, invoke blessings upon him and greet him with peace.
Those who offend God and His Messenger, God has cursed them in this world and the Hereafter and has prepared for them a humiliating punishment.
Those who harm believing men and believing women for something they did not commit have burdened themselves with slander and clear sin.
O Prophet, tell your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments over themselves. That is more likely for them to be recognized and not harassed. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
If the hypocrites, those with sickness in their hearts, and the rumor-mongers in the city do not stop, We will certainly incite you against them, and then they will not remain your neighbors there except briefly.
Cursed, wherever they are found they will be seized and killed utterly.
This has been God's way with those who came before, and you will never find any change in God's way.
People ask you about the Hour. Say, "Knowledge of it rests only with God." What will make you realize? Perhaps the Hour is near.
God has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a blazing Fire.
They will remain in it forever, finding no protector and no helper.
On the Day when their faces are turned over in the Fire, they will say, "If only we had obeyed God and obeyed the Messenger!"
They will say, "Our Lord, we obeyed our leaders and our elders, and they led us astray from the path."
"Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a mighty curse."
O you who believe, do not be like those who harassed Moses. God cleared him of what they said, and he was honorable in the sight of God.
O you who believe, be mindful of God and speak words that are correct.
He will set right your deeds for you and forgive your sins. Whoever obeys God and His Messenger has achieved a tremendous triumph.
We offered the Trust to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, but they refused to bear it and were afraid of it. Yet the human being bore it. He has always been unjust and ignorant.
So that God may punish the hypocrite men and women and the polytheist men and women, and so that God may turn in mercy to the believing men and women. God is Forgiving, Merciful.
