Ha Mim.
The revelation of this Book is from God, the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
Forgiver of sin, Accepter of repentance, severe in punishment, infinite in grace. There is no god but Him. To Him is the final return.
None dispute God's revelations except those who disbelieve, so do not be deceived by their movement throughout the land.
Before them, the people of Noah denied, and the factions after them. Every nation plotted against their messenger to seize him, and they argued with falsehood to defeat the truth. So I seized them, and how terrible was My punishment!
Thus your Lord's word has been justified against those who disbelieved: they are the companions of the Fire.
Those who carry the Throne and those around it glorify their Lord with praise and believe in Him and seek forgiveness for those who believe: "Our Lord, You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who repent and follow Your path, and protect them from the punishment of Hell."
"Our Lord, admit them into the Gardens of Eternity that You promised them, along with whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their descendants. You are the Almighty, the All-Wise."
"And protect them from evil deeds. Whoever You protect from evil deeds on that Day, You have shown him mercy. That is the supreme triumph."
Those who disbelieved will be told, "God's hatred of you is greater than your hatred of yourselves, when you were called to faith and you rejected it."
They will say, "Our Lord, You made us die twice and gave us life twice. We confess our sins. Is there any way out?"
That is because when God alone was called upon, you disbelieved, but when others were associated with Him, you believed. Judgment belongs to God, the Most High, the Most Great.
He is the One who shows you His signs and sends down provision for you from the sky. But none take heed except those who turn back to Him.
So call upon God with sincere devotion to Him, even if the disbelievers despise it.
Exalted in rank, Lord of the Throne, He casts the Spirit by His command upon whomever He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting.
The Day they will all emerge, nothing about them hidden from God. To whom belongs all sovereignty this Day? To God, the One, the Overpowering.
This Day every soul will be repaid for what it acquired. No injustice this Day. God is swift in reckoning.
Warn them of the Approaching Day, when hearts will be lodged in throats, choking with grief. The wrongdoers will have no close friend and no intercessor who will be obeyed.
He knows the treachery of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.
God judges with truth, while those they call upon besides Him judge nothing at all. God is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
Have they not traveled through the land and seen what became of those before them? They were mightier than them in strength and left greater traces in the land, yet God seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from God.
That was because their messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they rejected them. So God seized them. He is Powerful, severe in punishment.
We sent Moses with Our signs and clear authority.
To Pharaoh, Haman, and Qarun, but they said, "A sorcerer, a liar!"
When he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who believe with him and spare their women." But the scheming of the disbelievers leads only to ruin.
Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses, and let him call upon his Lord! I fear he will change your religion or spread corruption in the land."
Moses said, "I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning."
A believing man from Pharaoh's family, who had been hiding his faith, said, "Will you kill a man just because he says, 'My Lord is God,' when he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is lying, his lie is upon him. But if he is truthful, some of what he warns you of will strike you. God does not guide anyone who is excessive, a habitual liar."
"My people, you have dominion today, supreme in the land. But who will help us against God's might if it comes upon us?" Pharaoh said, "I only show you what I see, and I only guide you to the path of right judgment."
The one who believed said, "My people, I fear for you a day like the day of the factions."
Like the fate of the people of Noah, Aad, Thamud, and those after them. God does not want injustice for His servants.
"My people, I fear for you the Day of Calling Out."
The Day you will turn and flee with no one to protect you from God. Whoever God leaves astray has no guide.
Joseph came to you before with clear proofs, yet you never stopped doubting what he brought you. Then when he died, you said, "God will never send another messenger after him." This is how God leaves astray those who are excessive, full of doubt.
Those who argue against God's verses without any authority given to them are deeply loathed by God and by those who believe. This is how God seals every arrogant, tyrannical heart.
Pharaoh said, "Haman, build me a tower so that I may reach the pathways."
"The pathways of the heavens, so I can look upon the God of Moses. I am certain he is a liar." This is how Pharaoh's evil deeds were made appealing to him, and he was blocked from the path. Pharaoh's scheming led only to ruin.
The one who believed said, "My people, follow me and I will guide you to the path of right judgment."
"My people, this worldly life is only fleeting enjoyment, but the Hereafter is the lasting home."
Whoever does evil will be repaid only with its like. But whoever does good, male or female, while being a believer, they will enter Paradise, provided for without limit.
My people, why is it that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire?
You call me to deny God and associate with Him what I have no knowledge of, while I call you to the Almighty, the Perpetual Forgiver.
Without doubt, what you call me to has no claim in this world or the Hereafter. Our return is to God, and the transgressors will be the companions of the Fire.
You will remember what I am telling you. I entrust my affair to God. God sees all servants.
So God protected him from the evils of their scheming, and a terrible punishment engulfed the people of Pharaoh.
The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. On the Day the Hour arrives: "Admit the people of Pharaoh to the harshest punishment."
When they argue with one another in the Fire, the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "We were your followers. Can you relieve us of a portion of the Fire?"
Those who were arrogant will say, "We are all in it together. God has judged between His servants."
Those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Call upon your Lord to lighten the punishment for us, even for a day."
They will say, "Did your messengers not come to you with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will say, "Then call yourselves." But the prayers of the disbelievers lead only to waste.
We will surely support Our messengers and those who believe, in the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand.
The Day when the excuses of the wrongdoers will not benefit them. Theirs is the curse, and theirs is the worst home.
We gave Moses guidance and made the Children of Israel inherit the Scripture.
A guidance and a reminder for people of understanding.
So be patient. The promise of God is true. Seek forgiveness for your sin and glorify your Lord with praise in the evening and the morning.
Those who dispute God's revelations without any authority given to them have nothing in their hearts but arrogance they will never attain. So seek refuge in God. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
The creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of humankind, but most people do not know.
The blind and the seeing are not equal, nor are those who believe and do good deeds equal to the evildoer. How little you reflect.
The Hour is surely coming, there is no doubt about it, but most people do not believe.
Your Lord has said, "Call upon Me and I will answer you. Those who are too arrogant to worship Me will enter Hell humiliated."
God is the One who made the night for you to rest in and the day bright. God is full of grace towards people, but most people are not grateful.
That is God, your Lord, Creator of all things. There is no god but Him. So how are you deluded?
Thus are deluded those who reject the signs of God.
God is the One who made the earth a dwelling place for you and the sky a canopy. He shaped you and perfected your forms, and He provided you with good things. That is God, your Lord. So blessed is God, Lord of all worlds.
He is the Ever-Living. There is no god but Him. So call upon Him with sincere devotion. All praise belongs to God, Lord of all worlds.
Say, "I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides God, since clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all worlds."
He is the One who created you from dust, then from a drop, then from a clinging clot, then He brings you out as a child, then lets you reach your full strength, then lets you become old, though some of you die sooner, and so that you may reach an appointed term, and so that you may understand.
He is the One who gives life and causes death. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
Have you not seen those who argue about the signs of God? How are they turned away?
Those who deny the Book and what We sent Our messengers with, they will soon know.
When the shackles are around their necks and the chains drag them.
Into scalding water, then into the Fire they are burned.
Then they are asked, "Where are those you used to associate"
"besides God?" They say, "They have abandoned us. We never called upon anything before." This is how God leads the disbelievers astray.
That is because you used to rejoice on earth without right and because you used to revel.
Enter the gates of Hell to remain there forever. Wretched is the dwelling of the arrogant.
So be patient. God's promise is true. Whether We show you some of what We have promised them or take your soul, to Us they will be returned.
We sent messengers before you. Among them are those whose stories We have told you, and among them are those whose stories We have not told you. No messenger could bring a sign except by God's permission. When God's command comes, judgment is passed with truth, and there the falsifiers are lost.
God is the One who made livestock for you, some to ride and some to eat.
You have other benefits in them, and through them you reach destinations you desire in your hearts. On them and on ships you are carried.
He shows you His signs. So which of God's signs do you deny?
Have they not traveled through the land to see what became of those before them? They were more numerous than them, mightier in strength, and left greater traces in the land. Yet what they acquired did not help them at all.
When their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they rejoiced in the knowledge they had, and what they used to mock surrounded them.
When they saw Our might, they said, "We believe in God alone, and we reject what we used to associate with Him."
But their faith was of no benefit to them once they saw Our might. This is God's way that has always applied to His servants. There the disbelievers were lost.
