The Hour (the time when the present world will end and the Hereafter begin) has drawn near and the moon is visited
And if they see a sign they turn away and say, "Another delusion!"
And they speak lies and follow their own desires. And every matter does come to a settlement
And surely there has come to them some of the news containing lesson
In mature wisdom; but warnings avail not
So turn away from them on the Day when the Summoner summons to a thing forbidding
With downcast eyes, they come out of the graves as though they were locusts dispersed
Hurrying on toward the Summoner, the suppressors of Truth say, "This is a hard day."
Before them, Noah's people had denied! They denied Our devotee and said he was a mad man! And thus rebuffed was he
Then he prayed to his Lord, "I am defeated, so help me!"
We then opened gates of the sky with pouring water
And We caused springs in the earth to gush forth, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose
And We carried him [Noah] upon something [Ark made] of planks and nail
That sailed under Our observation, in compensation for one [Noah] who was rejected
And We did leave it [Ark] behind as a Sign for posterity; but is there any to take heed?
And see how My punishment was — and My warnings
And We have certainly made the Qur'aan easy for cultivating Firm Faith in and Remembrance of Me; but is there any to take heed
(The anscient tribe of) AAad rejected [divine guidance]. How then was My punishment and My warnings
We did indeed send upon them a furiously blowing wind on a day of constant calamity
It [wind] swept away men as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees
How then was My punishment and My warnings
And We have certainly made the Qur'aan easy for cultivating Firm Faith in and Remembrance of Me; but is there any to take heed
(The ancient tribe of) Thamood rejected warnings
They said, "Is it an individual man, amongst us all, that we should follow? Then we are indeed into error and madness."
Is the Zikr [divine revelation] bestowed only upon him, amongst us all? Nay, but he is an insolent liar
To-morrow they shall know who the insolent liar is
We are indeed sending the she-camel by way of a test for them. Just watch them and have patience
And tell them that the water is to be shared among them; every drink to be accounted for
But then they prevailed upon one of their companions to take hold of and hamstrung (her)
How then was My punishment and My warnings
We sent upon them just one loud, piercing sound, and they became as the dry twigs used by the builder of a cattle-fold
And We have certainly made the Qur'aan easy for cultivating Firm Faith in and Remembrance of Me; but is there any to take heed
Lot's people rejected warnings
We did indeed send a violent storm upon them all save the family of Lot, whom We saved in the wee hours before daw
As favour from Us. Thus do We reward a grateful one.
And he did warn them of Our Grip, but they had doubts on the veracity of the warnings
And they did try to seduce him about his guests. So We blinded their eyes, "Taste now My punishment and My warnings!"
And the punishment decreed did befall them early in the morning
"Taste then My punishment and My warnings!"
And We have certainly made the Qur'aan easy for cultivating Firm Faith in and Remembrance of Me; but is there any to take heed
And warnings did come to the house of Pharaoh
They denied all Our Signs. Therefore We gripped them with a mighty, powerful Grip
Are your Truth-suppressors better than those [mentioned above], or have you some immunity [decreed for them] in the Scriptures
Or do they claim they are a united front
The front will soon be routed and put to flight
Moreover, the Hour (the time when the present world will end and the Hereafter begin) is their tryst with destiny, and the Hour shall be more grievous and bitter
The sinners are indeed into error and madness
The Day they are dragged into the Fire upon their faces to taste the feel of Hell
We have indeed created every thing to a measure.
And Our Command is just one! Like the twinkling of an eye
And We did destroy the likes of you; but is there any to take heed
And every thing they did is in the Records
And everything, small and big, is duly recorded
The pious indeed will be among gardens and river
Seated in honour near the Most Powerful King
