Verily, WE sent Noah to his people: “Warn your people before an agonizing punishment comes to them.”
He said, “O my people! I am a plain warner unto you:
Serve Allah and be conscious of HIM and do obey me,
That HE may forgive you some of your trespasses and grant you time until a defined term. Indeed, the term set by Allah, when it is on hand, it will not be delayed— if you were to know.”
He said, “My Rabb, I have called my people night and day—
But my call increases them in nothing except flight
And indeed, every time I invited them that YOU may grant them forgiveness, they plugged their fingers in their ears, and they drew their cloaks over themselves, and persisted in attitude and arrogantly defied with growing arrogance.
Further to that, I invited them aloud,
Further to that, I announced openly unto them, and I confided unto them privately—
[In all those ways] I said, “Seek forgiveness from your Rabb. HE is ever the source of all forgiveness.
HE will dispatch the sky upon you in showers,
And HE will supplement you with wealth and children, and render gardens for you and place rivers for you.
What is the matter with you that you do not look to Allah for dignity?
While HE did create you in succeeding stages.
Do you not see how HE created the seven heavens— endlessly replicated?
And HE placed the moon therein as radiance and the sun as a lamp?
And Allah has sprouted you from the earth, like all sprouting,
then HE will cycle you back into it and bring you forth for another emergence.
And Allah has rendered the earth as an open carpet for you,
That you may thread accessible ways through it.”
Said Noah, “My Rabb, they have disobeyed me and followed such whose wealth and children add nothing but ruin.
And they orchestrated a monstrous plot,
and stated [for their people], ‘You are definitely not to abandon your gods, and definitely not to abandon Wadd, or Suwa, or Yaghuth and Ya’uq and Nasr.’
And they have already misled many. Do increase the wrongdoers in naught except error.”
Because of their sins, they were drowned, and thus drawn into a fire. And so, they found for themselves not any helper other than Allah.
Noah had said, “My Rabb, do not leave on the land any dweller from the disbelievers
Surely, if YOU leave them to be, they will mislead YOUR worshippers and they will not beget except ungrateful degenerates.
My Rabb, grant forgiveness to me and to my parents and whosoever enters my house seeking peace and safety, and to the believing men and believing women, and increase nothing for the persistent wrongdoers except destruction.”
