| Arabic | | وَقَالَ الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَىٰ أَن يَنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ مِن تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ وَاللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰ أَمْرِهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُون | |

And said | waqāla | وَقَالَ | ق و ل | |
the one who | alladhī | الَّذِي | ا ل ل ذ ى | |
bought him | ish'tarāhu | اشْتَرَاهُ | ش ر ى | |
to his wife, | li-im'ra-atihi | لِامْرَأَتِهِ | م ر ا | |
"Make comfortable | akrimī | أَكْرِمِي | ك ر م | |
his stay. | mathwāhu | مَثْوَاهُ | ث و ى | |
(he) will benefit us | yanfaʿanā | يَنْفَعَنَا | ن ف ع | |
we will take him | nattakhidhahu | نَتَّخِذَهُ | ا خ ذ | |
(as) a son." | waladan | وَلَدًا | و ل د | |
And thus | wakadhālika | وَكَذَلِكَ | ذ ل ك | |
We established | makkannā | مَكَّنَّا | م ك ن | |
Yusuf | liyūsufa | لِيُوسُفَ | ى س ف | |
the land | l-arḍi | الْأَرْضِ | ا ر ض | |
that We might teach him | walinuʿallimahu | وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ | ع ل م | |
(the) interpretation of | tawīli | تَأْوِيلِ | ا و ل | |
the events. | l-aḥādīthi | الْأَحَادِيثِ | ح د ث | |
And Allah | wal-lahu | وَاللَّهُ | ا ل ه | |
(is) Predominant | ghālibun | غَالِبٌ | غ ل ب | |
His affairs, | amrihi | أَمْرِهِ | ا م ر | |
but | walākinna | وَلَكِنَّ | ل ك ن | |
(of) the people | l-nāsi | النَّاسِ | ن و س | |
know. | yaʿlamūna | يَعْلَمُونَ | ع ل م | |
