| Arabic | | وَاضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاءٍ أَنزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهِ نَبَاتُ الْأَرْضِ فَأَصْبَحَ هَشِيمًا تَذْرُوهُ الرِّيَاحُ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّقْتَدِرً |  |

| (the) vegetation | nabātu | نَبَاتُ | ن ب ت | |
| (of) the earth | l-arḍi | الْأَرْضِ | ا ر ض | |
| then becomes | fa-aṣbaḥa | فَأَصْبَحَ | ص ب ح | |
| dry stalks, | hashīman | هَشِيمًا | ه ش م | |
| it (is) scattered | tadhrūhu | تَذْرُوهُ | ذ ر و | |
| (by) the winds. | l-riyāḥu | الرِّيَاحُ | ر و ح | |
