| Arabic | | لِلْفُقَرَاءِ الَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًا فِي الْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ الْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَاءَ مِنَ التَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُم بِسِيمَاهُمْ لَا يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيم |  |

| (to) move about | ḍarban | ضَرْبًا | ض ر ب | |
| the earth. | l-arḍi | الْأَرْضِ | ا ر ض | |
| Think (about) them, | yaḥsabuhumu | يَحْسَبُهُمُ | ح س ب | |
| the ignorant one, | l-jāhilu | الْجَاهِلُ | ج ه ل | |
| (that they are) self-sufficient | aghniyāa | أَغْنِيَاءَ | غ ن ى | |
| (their) restraint, | l-taʿafufi | التَّعَفُّفِ | ع ف ف | |
| you recognize them | taʿrifuhum | تَعْرِفُهُمْ | ع ر ف | |
| by their mark. | bisīmāhum | بِسِيمَاهُمْ | س و م | |
| (do) they ask | yasalūna | يَسْءَلُونَ | س ا ل | |
| the people | l-nāsa | النَّاسَ | ن و س | |
| with importunity. | il'ḥāfan | إِلْحَافًا | ل ح ف | |
| you spend | tunfiqū | تُنْفِقُوا | ن ف ق | |
| then indeed, | fa-inna | فَإِنَّ | ا ن ن | |
| (is) All-Knower. | ʿalīmun | عَلِيمٌ | ع ل م | |
