| Arabic | | وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّا أَطَعْنَا سَادَتَنَا وَكُبَرَاءَنَا فَأَضَلُّونَا السَّبِيلَ |  |

| [we] obeyed | aṭaʿnā | أَطَعْنَا | ط و ع | |
| our chiefs | sādatanā | سَادَتَنَا | س و د | |
| and our great men, | wakubarāanā | وَكُبَرَاءَنَا | ك ب ر | |
| and they misled us | fa-aḍallūnā | فَأَضَلُّونَا | ض ل ل | |
| (from) the Way. | l-sabīlā | السَّبِيلَا | س ب ل | |
