| | Abdul Hye rendition of Surah The Clans, The Coalition, The Combined Forces, The Allies(al-Ahzab) --- |
---|
33:1 | | O Prophet (Muhammad)! Fear Allah; don’t obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Surely! Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise. |
33:2 | | Follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Surely, Allah is well acquainted with what you do. |
33:3 | | And put your trust in Allah, and Allah is sufficient as a trustee. |
33:4 | | Allah has not put 2 hearts in one person’s body. Neither has He made your wives whom you declare (divorce) through Zihar to be like your mother’s backs, (Zihar is the saying of a husband to his wife: "you are to me like the back of my mother" i.e. you are unlawful for me to approach, deprive her rights and keep her like a captive and don’t let her marry anyone else) as your real mothers, nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. That is your saying with your mouths. But Allah says the truth, and He guides to the Right Way. |
33:5 | | Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah. But if you don’t know their fathers, (call them) your brothers in the religion and your friends. There is no sin on you if you make a mistake in it, except what your hearts deliberately intend. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
33:6 | | The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their (believers’) mothers. Those who are blood relations, some of them are closer to each other in the Decree of Allah (regarding inheritance) than (the brotherhood of) the believers and the emigrants (from Makkah to Madinah), except that you do kindness to your brothers. This has been written in the book (of divine Decrees). |
33:7 | | And (remember) when We took the covenant from the prophets, from you (O Muhammad), from Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, son of Mary. We took from them a strong covenant, |
33:8 | | so that He may ask the truthful (Messengers) about their truth. And He has prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers. |
33:9 | | O you who believe! Remember the Favor of Allah to you, when hosts (enemy) came against you and We sent winds and forces (invisible angels) against them that you did not see (during the battle of Trench). And Allah is All-Seer of what you do. |
33:10 | | When they (enemy) came upon you from above and from below; when the eyes grew wild and the hearts reached the throats, and you were entertaining all doubts about Allah, |
33:11 | | there, the believers were tested and shaken with a mighty shake. |
33:12 | | And when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts there was a disease (doubt) said: “Allah and His Messenger promised us nothing but delusion (deception)!” |
33:13 | | And a party of them said: “O people of Madinah! There is no stand for you (against the enemy attack!). Therefore go back!” Another band of them asked permission of the prophet saying: “Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy),” they were not secure. They wished nothing but to flee (from battle). |
33:14 | | And if (the enemy) had entered on them from all its (the city) sides and they had been exhorted to trial (renegade from Islam to polytheism), they would have committed it and would not have little hesitation in it. |
33:15 | | And indeed they had already made a covenant with Allah not to turn their backs, and a covenant with Allah must be answered for. |
33:16 | | Say (O Muhammad to these hypocrites who ask your permission to run away from you): “Flight (run away) will not avail you if you flee from death or killing, and you will enjoy a little (while in this world)!” |
33:17 | | Say: “Who can protect you from Allah if He intends to harm you, or intends to show you Mercy?” They will not find for themselves other than Allah, a protector or a helper. |
33:18 | | Allah already knows those from among you who keep back (people) from fighting (in Allah’s cause), and those who say to their brothers: “Come here towards us,” while they (themselves) don’t come to the battle except a few, |
33:19 | | they are miserly towards you (to help in Allah’s cause). When fear comes (to them), you will see them looking to you, revolving their eyes as if their deaths hover over them, but when the fear departs, they will smite you with sharp tongues, become miserly towards (spending on) good. Such people have not believed. Therefore Allah makes their deeds fruitless, and that is very easy for Allah. |
33:20 | | They thought that the confederates would not withdraw. If the confederates should come again, they would wish if they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins and ask about your news (from a safe distance); and if they happen to be among you, they would not fight but a little. |
33:21 | | Indeed, you have in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) the ‘best example’ (to follow) for those who hope to (meet with) Allah, the Last Day, and remember Allah much. |
33:22 | | And when the believers saw the confederates, they said: “This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad) had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad) had spoken the truth.” It increased them in faith and obedience (to Allah). |
33:23 | | Among the believers there are people who have been true to their covenant with Allah, some of them have fulfilled their obligations (sacrificed their lives), and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed (their covenant) in the least. |
33:24 | | Allah may reward the people of truth for their truth, and punish the hypocrites if He wills or forgive them. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
33:25 | | And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage; they did not gain any advantage. Allah is sufficient for the believers in the fighting. And Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty. |
33:26 | | Those people of the Scripture (Jews of Bani Quraizah) who backed them (the invaders); Allah brought them down from their forts and cast fear into their hearts. So a group you killed and a group you made captives. |
33:27 | | And thus He made you to inherit their lands, their houses, their riches, and the land (Khaibar) which you had not frequented (before). Allah is Able to do all things. |
33:28 | | O Prophet (Muhammad)! Say to your wives: “If you desire the worldly life and its glitter, then come, I shall make you a provision and set you free (divorce) in an honorable way.” |
33:29 | | But if you desire Allah and His Messenger, and the home of the Hereafter; then surely, Allah has prepared a great reward for the righteous people amongst you. |
33:30 | | O wives of the prophet! Whoever of you commits an open illegal sexual intercourse, her punishment will be doubled and that is easy for Allah. |
33:31 | | Whoever of you (wives of the Prophet) is obedient to Allah and His Messenger, and does righteous deeds, We shall grant her double reward, and We have prepared a noble provision for her. |
33:32 | | O wives of the prophet! You are not like any other women. If you fear Allah, then don’t be soft in speech (to men not related), lest the one in whose heart there is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire) may be moved with desire in his heart, but speak good words. |
33:33 | | Stay in your homes and don’t display yourselves like that of the times of the first ignorance (pre-Islamic days); establish prayer, give obligatory charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. O members of the family (of the prophet), Allah only wishes to remove evil deeds from you and to purify you perfectly. |
33:34 | | And remember the Verses of Allah and the wisdom (Prophet’s sayings) which are recited in your houses, surely, Allah is Courteous, Well-Acquainted. |
33:35 | | Surely, the Muslim men and the Muslim women, the believing men and the believing women, the obedient men and the obedient women, the truthful men and the truthful women, the patient men and the patient women, the humble men and the humble women, the charitable men and the charitable women, the fasting men and the fasting women, the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard it, the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember Allah - for all of them, Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise). |
33:36 | | It is not proper for a believing man or a believing woman to have any option for them in their decision when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter. Whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed into clear error. |
33:37 | | And (remember) when you (Muhammad) said to him (Zaid, prophet’s adopted son) on whom Allah has bestowed Grace (by guiding to Islam) and you too have done favor (by freeing from captivity): “Keep your wife to yourself and fear Allah.” But you did hide in yourself what (Allah has already made known to you that He will give her (Zaid’s wife) to you in marriage) Allah will make it clear and you did fear the people (that Muhammad married the divorced wife of his captive) whereas Allah had a better right that you should fear Him. So when Zaid had performed the necessary formality (divorced her), We gave her to you in marriage, so that (in future) there may be no blame on the believers in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have performed the necessary formality (divorced) from them. And the Command of Allah must be fulfilled. |
33:38 | | There is no blame on the prophet in that which Allah has made legal for him. That is the Way of Allah with those who have passed away before. And the Command of Allah is a decree preordained. |
33:39 | | Those who convey the message of Allah and fear Him, don’t fear anyone except Allah. Allah is sufficient as a Reckoner (to take account). |
33:40 | | Muhammad is not the father of any of your men (he will not leave any son), but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Last of the prophets. Allah is All-Aware of everything. |
33:41 | | O you who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance, |
33:42 | | and glorify His Praises morning and afternoon. |
33:43 | | It is Allah Who sends blessings on you (believers), and (also) His angels, so that He may bring you out from darkness into light. And He is Merciful to the believers. |
33:44 | | Their greeting on the Day they shall meet Allah will be: “Peace!” And Allah has prepared for them a generous reward (Paradise). |
33:45 | | O Prophet (Muhammad)! Surely, We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of good news and a Warner, |
33:46 | | and a caller to Allah by His permission, and as a lamp spreading light (guidance). |
33:47 | | And give glad tidings to the believers that there is a great Bounty for them from Allah. |
33:48 | | And don’t obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites and disregard their harm. Put your trust in Allah and Allah is sufficient as a Trustee. |
33:49 | | O you who believe! When you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have sexual intercourse with them, you don’t count on them Iddah (waiting period after divorce) in respect of them. So give them a present and set them free (divorce) in an honorable way. |
33:50 | | O Prophet (Muhammad)! Surely, We have made lawful to you: your wives to whom you have paid their bridal money (given by husband to wife at the time of marriage); those (captives) whom your right hand possesses - whom Allah has given to you; the daughters of your paternal uncles and aunts, the daughters of your maternal uncles and aunts who have migrated (from Makkah) with you; a believing woman if she offers herself to the prophet and if the Prophet wishes to marry her - a privilege for you (only) other than the believers. Indeed We know what We have enjoined upon them (believers) about their wives and those (captives) whom their right hands possess, in order that there should be no difficulty on you. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
33:51 | | You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn for your company) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive to you whom you will. There is no sin on you if you desire any of those whom you have set aside (temporarily). It is better that their eyes may be cooled and they don’t grieve, and may be pleased with what you give all of them. And Allah knows what is in your hearts. Allah is All-Knowing, Forbearing. |
33:52 | | It is not lawful for you (O Muhammad) to marry more women after this, or to change them (present wives) for other wives even though their beauty attracts you, except those (captives) whom your right hand possesses. Allah is a Watcher over all things. |
33:53 | | O you who believe! Don’t enter the houses of the prophet, except when permission is given to you for a meal, and then don’t wait for its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter and when you have taken your meal, then disperse, without sitting for a talk. Surely, such behavior annoys the prophet, he is shy in asking you to leave, but Allah is not shy of telling you the truth. When you ask them (his wives) for anything, ask them from behind a curtain. This is purer for your hearts and for their hearts. It is not proper for you to annoy the Messenger of Allah, nor that you should ever marry his wives after him (his death). Surely! With Allah that would be a grievous offence. |
33:54 | | Whether you reveal anything or conceal it, surely, Allah is All-Knower of everything. |
33:55 | | There is no sin on them (Prophet’s wives, if they appear unveiled) before their fathers, their sons, their brothers, their brother’s sons, their sister’s sons, their own (believing) women, those whom their right hand possesses (their female captives), fear Allah. Surely, Allah is All-Witness over everything. |
33:56 | | Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the prophet (Muhammad). O you who believe! Send your blessings on him (Muhammad) and greet him with greetings (Assalamu Alaikum). |
33:57 | | Surely, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger, Allah has cursed them in this world and in the Hereafter and has prepared for them a humiliating punishment. |
33:58 | | Those who annoy believing men and believing women without any fault of theirs, then indeed they shall bear the crime of slander and plain sin. |
33:59 | | O Prophet! Tell your wives, your daughters, and the believing women to draw their veils over them. That is better so that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
33:60 | | If the hypocrites, those in whose hearts there is a disease (of evil desires), and those who spread false news among the people in Madinah, don’t desist, We shall let you overpower them, then they will not be able to stay in the city as your neighbors but for a little while. |
33:61 | | They shall be cursed wherever they are found; they shall be seized, and killed with a (terrible) slaughter. |
33:62 | | This has been the Way of Allah in the case of those who passed away before and you will never find a change in the Way of Allah. |
33:63 | | People ask you about the Hour (of Judgment), say: “The knowledge of it is with Allah. What do you know? It may be that the Hour is near!” |
33:64 | | Surely, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and has prepared for them a flaming fire (hell). |
33:65 | | They will abide in it forever. Neither will they find a protector nor a helper |
33:66 | | On the Day when their faces will be turned over in the fire, they will say: “Oh, would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger (Muhammad). |
33:67 | | And they will also say: “Our Lord! Surely, we obeyed our chiefs and our great ones, and they misled us from the Right Way. |
33:68 | | Our Lord! Give them double punishment and curse them with a mighty curse!” |
33:69 | | O you who believe! Be not like those who annoyed Moses, but Allah cleared him of that which they alleged, and he was honorable with Allah. |
33:70 | | O you who believe! Fear Him and speak the truth. |
33:71 | | He will bless your deeds and forgive your sins. Those who obey Allah and His Messenger, they have indeed won a great victory. |
33:72 | | Truly, We did offer the trust (of moral responsibility, honesty, and all duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to undertake it and were afraid of (punishment) it. But human undertook it. Surely, human was unjust (to themselves) and ignorant (of results). |
33:73 | | Allah will punish the hypocrites, men and women, and those men and women who associate partners with Allah. And Allah will pardon the believing men and the believing women. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. |
