| 53:1 | | By the star when it perishes |
| 53:2 | | Neither is your comrade [Prophet Muhammad] astray, nor has he deviated |
| 53:3 | | And he speaks not for attaining any personal desire |
| 53:4 | | It is nothing but revelation divinely revealed |
| 53:5 | | Imparted to him by One [Angel] mighty in powe |
| 53:6 | | [The Angel] capable of passing [quickly from one form to another]. And he ros |
| 53:7 | | And he was on the high horizon |
| 53:8 | | Then he drew near, and came dow |
| 53:9 | | To be within a distance of two bow-lengths |
| 53:10 | | And He then revealed to His devotee [Muhammad] what He revealed |
| 53:11 | | The mind lied not what it saw |
| 53:12 | | Would you then be engaged in an argument with him over what he saw! |
| 53:13 | | And he [Muhammad] did see him [Angel] descend another time |
| 53:14 | | Near Sidrat [a kind of tree] at the farthest frontier |
| 53:15 | | Near it [Sidrat] is the Garden Abode [Paradise] |
| 53:16 | | When what covers the Sidr covered i |
| 53:17 | | The sight swerved not, nor did it transgres |
| 53:18 | | He did see some of the great signs of his Lord |
| 53:19 | | See you the Lat and the`Uzza |
| 53:20 | | And Manat, the third, besides |
| 53:21 | | Are the males for you and for Him the females! |
| 53:22 | | This then is an unfair division |
| 53:23 | | They are but names you have given them — you and your fathers! Allah has sent no authority for them. They follow but conjecture and what they themselves desire. And, surely, the guidance from their Lord has come to them |
| 53:24 | | Or, is it ordained that man does [always] have what he wishes |
| 53:25 | | To Allah then belong the Hereafter and the present |
| 53:26 | | And how many angels are there in the heavens whose intercession shall be of no avail, unless and until it be by Allah's permission and pleasure in regard to those whom He wishes |
| 53:27 | | Those, indeed, who do not believe in the Hereafter give angels female names |
| 53:28 | | And they have no knowledge thereon [on creation of angels]. They but follow their conjecture and conjecture can avail nothing indeed against the Truth |
| 53:29 | | So keep away from those who turn away from remembering Us and who seek nothing but the life of this world |
| 53:30 | | That [life of this world] is all they know! Indeed it is your Lord Who knows those who have strayed away from His Path and it is He Who knows those who are guided |
| 53:31 | | And To Allah belong all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth to requite the evil- doers for their deeds and to requite those who have done good deeds with a good reward |
| 53:32 | | Those who avoid grave sins and shameful deeds, lesser offences notwithstanding — for those indeed your Lord abounds in forgiveness. He knows you since He raised you from the earth, and while you were unseen inside your mothersԠwombs. Consider yourselves not then as pure and highly born! He knows those that are pious |
| 53:33 | | Have you seen the person that turns away (from Allah's Path) |
| 53:34 | | And he/she gives a little, and then stops |
| 53:35 | | Does he have any knowledge of the Unseen, and is so aware of it |
| 53:36 | | Is he not informed of what is there in the Scripture of Moses |
| 53:37 | | And of Abraham, who was true to his word |
| 53:38 | | That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another |
| 53:39 | | And that man gets nothing but what he strives for |
| 53:40 | | And that his striving shall be [critically] see |
| 53:41 | | And then he shall be fully compensate |
| 53:42 | | And that to your Lord is the End |
| 53:43 | | And that He it is Who makes people laugh and cr |
| 53:44 | | And that He it is Who causes death and gives lif |
| 53:45 | | And He it is Who created the couple of the male and the femal |
| 53:46 | | From fertilized ovum as and when [divinely] decreed.h |
| 53:47 | | And that He has ordained tne second life [for mankind in the Hereafter] to be obligatory upon Himself |
| 53:48 | | And that He is the One self-sufficient and self-preserving |
| 53:49 | | And that He is the Lord of Siriush |
| 53:50 | | And that He it is Who destroyed the ancient people of AAa |
| 53:51 | | And Thamood [another ancient people], leaving no trace of the |
| 53:52 | | And the people of Noah before them! They were all wicked people transgressing Allah- laden bounds |
| 53:53 | | And He destroyed the overturned cities [of the people of Lot |
| 53:54 | | And He covered them with what He covered.h |
| 53:55 | | So, which of your Lordճ means of power will you doubt |
| 53:56 | | It is a warning among the warnings of yore |
| 53:57 | | The approaching [Hour] has drawn nea |
| 53:58 | | None other than Allah can avert it |
| 53:59 | | Do you, then, wonder at what has been told to you here! |
| 53:60 | | Will you laugh at it and not weep! |
| 53:61 | | And you remain heedlessly engrossed in merriment! |
| 53:62 | | You should [rather] prostrate to Allah, and worship Him |
