| | Dr. Laleh Bakhtiar rendition of Surah He Frowned(`Abasa) --- |
---|
80:1 | | He frowned and turned away |
80:2 | | that the blind man drew near him. |
80:3 | | And what will cause thee to recognize so that perhaps he will purify himself |
80:4 | | or yet recollect and a reminder profit him? |
80:5 | | But as for he who was self-complacent, |
80:6 | | then, thou hast attended to him |
80:7 | | and not upon thee is any blame if he purifies not himself. |
80:8 | | Yet as for him who drew near to thee, coming eagerly for knowledge |
80:9 | | and he dreads God, |
80:10 | | then, thou hast paid no heed to him? |
80:11 | | No indeed! Truly, this is an admonition. |
80:12 | | So let whoever willed, remember it |
80:13 | | in scrolls to be held in esteem, |
80:14 | | ones that are exalted and ones that are purified |
80:15 | | by the hands of generous writers |
80:16 | | and ones who are kindly, generous. |
80:17 | | Perdition to the human being! How ungrateful he is! |
80:18 | | From which thing did He create him? |
80:19 | | He created him from seminal fluid then, ordained that he be. |
80:20 | | He made the way easy for him again. |
80:21 | | Again, He caused him to die and be buried. |
80:22 | | Again, when He willed, He will revive him. |
80:23 | | No indeed! The human being finishes not what He commanded him. |
80:24 | | Then, let the human being look on his food— |
80:25 | | how We, truly, unloosed rain water with a pouring out. |
80:26 | | Again, We split the earth, a splitting. |
80:27 | | And We put forth in it grain |
80:28 | | and grapevines and reeds |
80:29 | | and olives and date palm trees |
80:30 | | and dense fertile gardens |
80:31 | | and sweet fruits and whatever grows on the earth, |
80:32 | | an enjoyment for you and your flocks. |
80:33 | | Then, when the blare drew near, |
80:34 | | that Day a man will run away from his brother |
80:35 | | and his mother and his father |
80:36 | | and his companion wife and his children. |
80:37 | | For every man of them on that Day will be a matter that will preoccupy him. |
80:38 | | Faces that Day will be ones that are polished, |
80:39 | | ones who are laugh and ones who rejoice at good tidings. |
80:40 | | And faces on that Day will be dust-stained. |
80:41 | | Gloom will come over them. |
80:42 | | Those, they are the ones who are ungrateful, ones who act immorally. |
