| 85:1 | | By the heaven with its constellations |
| 85:2 | | And by the Promised Day |
| 85:3 | | And by the One Who will be Present (that Day) and by what will be brought to the presence |
| 85:4 | | The (people) of the trenches were slain |
| 85:5 | | (The people of) the fierce fire which was (fed) with abundant fuel |
| 85:6 | | When they sat beside it |
| 85:7 | | And they are themselves witnesses to all they did to the believers (i.e., casting them into the fire and burning them) |
| 85:8 | | And nothing (of the believers) was annoying them except that they had believed in Allah the Almighty, All-Praiseworthy |
| 85:9 | | To Whom the (entire) kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs and Allah is Witness over everything |
| 85:10 | | Indeed, those who persecute the believing men and women and then do not (even) repent, for them is the punishment of Hell, and for them is (especially) the torment of burning in the Fire |
| 85:11 | | And indeed, those who believe and keep doing pious deeds, for them are Gardens with streams flowing under them. This is the great victory |
| 85:12 | | Surely, the seizure of your Lord is most severe |
| 85:13 | | Verily, He creates the first time, and He is the One Who will bring to life the second time |
| 85:14 | | And He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving |
| 85:15 | | The Lord of the Throne (controlling the whole universe) and the Lord of Honour |
| 85:16 | | He (thoroughly) executes whatever He intends |
| 85:17 | | Has the news of the troops reached you |
| 85:18 | | The troops of Pharaoh and Thamud |
| 85:19 | | But such disbelievers (persistently strive to) belie (the truth) |
| 85:20 | | And Allah encompasses (them) from all sides |
| 85:21 | | It is indeed the Glorious Qur’an |
| 85:22 | | (Inscribed) in the very Well-guarded Tablet (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz) |
