| Arabic | | قُلْ إِن كَانَ آبَاؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَاؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَانُكُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالٌ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَاكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَا أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَجِهَادٍ فِي سَبِيلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَ اللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقِين |  |

| and your spouses, | wa-azwājukum | وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ | ز و ج | |
| and your relatives, | waʿashīratukum | وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ | ع ش ر | |
| and wealth | wa-amwālun | وَأَمْوَالٌ | م و ل | |
| that you have acquired | iq'taraftumūhā | اقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا | ق ر ف | |
| and the commerce, | watijāratun | وَتِجَارَةٌ | ت ج ر | |
| you fear | takhshawna | تَخْشَوْنَ | خ ش ى | |
| a decline (in) it | kasādahā | كَسَادَهَا | ك س د | |
| and the dwellings | wamasākinu | وَمَسَاكِنُ | س ك ن | |
| you delight (in) it | tarḍawnahā | تَرْضَوْنَهَا | ر ض و | |
| (are) more beloved | aḥabba | أَحَبَّ | ح ب ب | |
| to you | ilaykum | إِلَيْكُمْ | ا ل ى | |
| and His Messenger | warasūlihi | وَرَسُولِهِ | ر س ل | |
| and striving | wajihādin | وَجِهَادٍ | ج ه د | |
| His way, | sabīlihi | سَبِيلِهِ | س ب ل | |
| then wait | fatarabbaṣū | فَتَرَبَّصُوا | ر ب ص | |
| brings | yatiya | يَأْتِيَ | ا ت ى | |
| His Command. | bi-amrihi | بِأَمْرِهِ | ا م ر | |
| And Allah | wal-lahu | وَاللَّهُ | ا ل ه | |
| the people - | l-qawma | الْقَوْمَ | ق و م | |
| the defiantly disobedient." | l-fāsiqīna | الْفَاسِقِينَ | ف س ق | |
