What Qur'an Says About Indigent?
(Miskeen)

Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)? [107:1] Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness), [107:2] And encourages not the feeding of the indigent. [107:3]

As the morning broke, they called out, one to another,- [68:21] "Go ye to your tilth (betimes) in the morning, if ye would gather the fruits." [68:22] So they departed, conversing in secret low tones, (saying)- [68:23] "Let not a single indigent person break in upon you into the (garden) this day." [68:24] And they opened the morning, strong in an (unjust) resolve. [68:25] But when they saw the (garden), they said: "We have surely lost our way: [68:26] "Indeed we are shut out (of the fruits of our labour)!" [68:27] Said one of them, more just (than the rest): "Did I not say to you, 'Why not glorify (God)?'" [68:28] They said: "Glory to our Lord! Verily we have been doing wrong!" [68:29] Then they turned, one against another, in reproach. [68:30] They said: "Alas for us! We have indeed transgressed! [68:31] "It may be that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this: for we do turn to Him (in repentance)!" [68:32] Such is the Punishment (in this life); but greater is the Punishment in the Hereafter,- if only they knew! [68:33]

So give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the Countenance, of God, and it is they who will prosper. [30:38]

And render to the kindred their due rights, as (also) to those in want, and to the wayfarer: But squander not (your wealth) in the manner of a spendthrift. [17:26] Verily spendthrifts are brothers of the Evil Ones; and the Evil One is to his Lord (himself) ungrateful. [17:27] And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. [17:28] Make not thy hand tied (like a niggard's) to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to its utmost reach, so that thou become blameworthy and destitute. [17:29] Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and regard all His servants. [17:30]

For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower. [89:14] Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me." [89:15] [But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" [89:16] Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans! [89:17] Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- [89:18] And ye devour inheritance - all with greed, [89:19] And ye love wealth with inordinate love! [89:20] Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder, [89:21] And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, [89:22] And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him? [89:23] He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!" [89:24]

Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. [90:4] Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? [90:5] He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! [90:6] Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? [90:7] Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- [90:8] And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- [90:9] And shown him the two highways? [90:10] But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. [90:11] And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- [90:12] (It is:) freeing the bondman; [90:13] Or the giving of food in a day of privation [90:14] To the orphan with claims of relationship, [90:15] Or to the indigent (down) in the dust. [90:16] Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. [90:17] Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. [90:18] But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. [90:19]

And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! [69:25] "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! [69:26] "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! [69:27] "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! [69:28]

"My power has perished from me!"... [69:29] (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, [69:30] "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. [69:31] "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! [69:32] "This was he that would not believe in God Most High. [69:33] "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! [69:34] "So no friend hath he here this Day. [69:35] "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, [69:36] "Which none do eat but those in sin." [69:37]

As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- [76:5] A Fountain where the Devotees of God do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. [76:6] They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. [76:7] And they feed, for the love of God, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- [76:8] Saying),"We feed you for the sake of God alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. [76:9]

(They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, [74:40] And (ask) of the Sinners: [74:41] "What led you into Hell Fire?" [74:42] They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; [74:43] "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; [74:44] "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; [74:45] "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, [74:46] "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." [74:47] Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. [74:48]

O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,- [2:183](Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. [2:184]

But those who divorce their wives by Zihar, then wish to go back on the words they uttered,- (It is ordained that such a one) should free a slave before they touch each other: Thus are ye admonished to perform: and God is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. [58:3] And if any has not (the wherewithal), he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones, this, that ye may show your faith in God and His Apostle. Those are limits (set by) God. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty. [58:4]
