And when said a party of them, "O People (of) Yathrib! No stand for you, so return." And asked permission a group of them (from) the Prophet, saying, "Indeed, our houses (are) exposed," and not they (were) exposed. Not they wished but to flee.
and when some of them said, “O you people of Yathrib! You cannot withstand [the enemy] here: hence, go back [to your homes]!” — Whereupon a party from among them asked leave of the Prophet, saying, “Behold, our houses are exposed [to attack]!” — The while they were not [really] exposed: they wanted nothing but to flee
And when a party of them said: O folk of Yathrib! There is no stand (possible) for you, therefor turn back. And certain of them (even) sought permission of the Prophet, saying: Our homes lie open (to the enemy). And they lay not open. They but wished to flee

And ˹remember˺ when a group of them said, “O people of Yathrib! There is no point in you staying ˹here˺, so retreat!” Another group of them asked the Prophet’s permission ˹to leave˺, saying, “Our homes are vulnerable,” while ˹in fact˺ they were not vulnerable. They only wished to flee.
and a group of them said, "People of Yathrib, there is nothing for you [here], so return [home]." Yet another group asked permission of the Prophet, saying, "Our houses are exposed," although, in fact, they were not. They intended only to flee.
Others said, People of Yathrib, you cannot withstand [the enemy] here: so go back! Yet others asked leave of the Prophet, saying, Our houses are exposed and [defenceless].They were in truth not exposed: they only wished to flee
And when a party of them said: O people of Yasrib! there is no place to stand for you (here), therefore go back; and a party of them asked permission of the prophet, saying. Surely our houses are exposed; and they were not exposed; they only desired to fly away
And when a section of them said: O people of Yathrib! There is no habitation for you, so return. A group of people ask permission of the Prophet among them saying: Truly, Our houses are exposed. But they were not exposed. They want only to run away.
So when a faction of them said: "O people of Yathrib, there is no room for you, so return!", a group of them took leave of the Prophet, saying: "Our houses lie exposed." They were not defenseless; they merely wanted to run away.
And a party of them said: “O people of Madinah! There is no stand for you (against the enemy attack!). Therefore go back!” Another band of them asked permission of the prophet saying: “Truly, our homes lie open (to the enemy),” they were not secure. They wished nothing but to flee (from battle).
And when a group among them said, “O people of Yathrib! There is no stand for you; so turn back.” And a group among them sought permission from the Prophet, saying, “Truly our houses are exposed,” though they were not exposed. They wanted naught but to flee

And a party of them said: "O people of Yathrib (Medina)! You cannot stand the attack much longer. Go back to your city." And as a section of them said, " O population of Yathrib, Al-Madinah) there is no stationing (here) for you, so return!" And a group of them were asking permission of the Prophet, saying, "Surely our houses are privacies." (Or: weak spots; i.e., They begged permission to protect their own homes) And in no way were they privacies; decidedly they would like (to seek) nothing except flight
It was there that a group of them said, "People of Yathrib, turn back for there is no place for you to stay." Another group, asking for the Prophet's permission, said, "Our homes are defenseless." In fact, they were not defenseless. They only wanted to run away
and when a group of them said, .O people of Yathrib (Madinah), there is no place for you to stay; so go back. And a group of them was seeking permission (to leave) from the prophet, saying, .In fact our homes are vulnerable,. while they were not vulnerable; they wanted nothing but to escape
A group among them said, "O You people of Yathrib! There is no stand possible for you, so, go back." And some of them even sought permission of the Prophet, saying, "Behold, our homes are exposed (to the enemy)." A group of them said, “People of Yathrib, you will not be safe anywhere, so retreat,” while another group sought the Prophet’s permission to go back, saying, “Our homes are exposed,” yet they were not exposed; they wanted to flee.
And when a section of them said: "(O people of Yathrib), now there is no place for you to stay, so turn back." And (recall) when a party of them (also) said, `O people of Yathrib (- Madinah)! you can put up no stand (in the face of the enemy); you had better go back (to your homes or your old faith to save your lives).
