Indeed, We sent Noah to his people [commanding] that: "Warn your people before that brings to them a painful punishment."
He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you an obvious warner,
[warning] that you should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.
He will forgive for you from your sins and grant you respite for a stated term [Qur'an 10:44, Qur'an 26:208]. Indeed, the term of Allah, when it comes, can not be deferred, if you only knew.' "
He said, "My Lord, indeed I called my people night and day.
But my calls increased them not except, a flight.
And indeed, every time I called them that You may forgive them, they set up their fingers in their ears, and covered themselves with garments and persisted, and became proud, haughty.
Then indeed I invited them publicly.
Then I announced to them and I confided to them privately
And said, `Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving.'
He sends the sky upon you showering abundantly
And provides you with wealth and children and set for you paradises and set for you rivers.
What belongs to you that you do not desire for Allah to have Lordship.
And He has already created your [Eve, Adam] in stages.
Have you not seen how Allah has created seven heavens in layers
And made the moon in them as a light and made the sun as a lamp?
And Allah has sprouted you from the earth, a [stage wise] growth.
Then He will return you into it and exit you out in a exit [Qur'an 31:28].
And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse
That you may travel through wide roads of it."
Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him, the one whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.
And they plotted a big plot.
And they said [to their followers], `Do not leave your gods and do not leave Wadd nor Suwa' nor Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.'
And they have already strayed many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the oppressors except in astray."
For their sins they were drowned, so they are made to enter the Fire, and they will not find for themselves other than Allah any helpers.
And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from the infidels any dweller.
Indeed, if You leave them, they will stray Your slaves and they will not beget except a wicked infidel.
My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever entered my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
