By the dawn
By ten nights
By the even and the odd
By the night as it passes,
Is there in that only an oath, for one highly intelligent one?
Have you not considered [O man] how your Lord dealt with [the people of] Aad,
[Of the town] Iram, having lofty pillars,
Whose, was not created, alike within the towns?
And [with the people of] Thamud, those who carved out the rocks in the valley?
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes?
Those who turned themselves into taghut in the lands
So they add therein rebels.
So your Lord [O Muhammad] poured down upon them a scourge of punishment.
Indeed, your Lord is surely ever watchful.
And as for the human, whenever his Lord does not try him by hardship but honours him and favours him, he says, "My Lord has honoured me."
And whenever He does not try him in easiness and restricts against him his provision, then he says, "My Lord has abased me."
No such should be there [Qur'an 89:15-16]. No but is there [Qur'an 89:15-16]. You [people] do not honour the orphan
And you do not encourage one another upon feeding the needy.
And you devour inheritance, devouring greedily,
And you love wealth, the immense love.
No such should be there [Qur'an 89:15-16]. When the earth was crushed, crushing after crushing
And your Lord comes with the angels, row after row,
And Hell is brought on that Day [in view]. On that Day, the human will remember, but how the remembrance be relevant to him?
He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent forward for my life [something relevant]."
So on that Day, none will punish as His punishing,
And none will bind as His binding.
[The pious will be told], "O serene soul,
Return to your Lord, well pleased and pleasing [to Him],
And enter within My slaves
And enter My Paradise."
