a thing that intervenes between two things, a bar/obstruction that makes a separation, the interval between the present and that which is to come, from the period of the death to the resurrection, what is between doubt and certainty.

That I may do righteous (deeds) in what I left behind." No! Indeed, it (is) a word he speaks it, and from and before them (is) a barrier till (the) Day they are resurrected.
