General Root Meaning
To be empty, vacant, void, destitute, unoccupied, to be free from fault or a thing or affair, free of accusation or suspicion, to be alone or without any companion, meet with one in a vacant/unoccupied place, to pass away, to dismiss, let loose or let go a thing, permit or allow a thing, to forsake/relinquish/desert/abandon a thing, to be distant/remote/aloof/far from a thing, be at leisure, unoccupied (unemployed).

35:24
Indeed, We [We] have sent you with the truth, (as) a bearer of glad tidings and (as) a warner. And not (was) any nation but had passed within it a warner.

2:76
And when they meet those who believe[d], they say, "We have believed." But when meet in private some of them with some (others), they say, "Do you tell them what has Allah to you so that they argue with you therewith before your Lord? Then do (you) not understand?"

But the one who says to his parents, "Uff to both of you! Do you promise me that I will be brought forth, and have already passed away the generations from before me?" And they both seek help (of) Allah. "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, (the) Promise (of) Allah (is) true." But he says, "Not (is) this but (the) stories (of) the former (people)."

46:21
And mention (the) brother (of) Aad, when he warned his people in the - and had already passed away [the] warners from between (his) hands and from after him, "That not you worship except Allah. Indeed, I [I] fear for you a punishment (of) a Day Great."

5:75
Not (is) the Messiah, son (of) Maryam but a Messenger, certainly had passed from before him the Messengers. And his mother (was) truthful. They both used to eat [the] food. See how We make clear to them the Signs, then see how they are deluded.

13:6
And they ask you to hasten the evil before the good and verily has occurred from before them [the] similar punishments. And indeed, your Lord (is) Full (of) Forgiveness for mankind for their wrongdoing, and indeed, your Lord (is) severe (in) the penalty.

This (was) a community (which) has passed away, for it what it earned and for you what you have earned. And not you will be asked about what they used to do.

3:137
Verily passed from before you situations, then travel in the earth and see how was (the) end (of) the deniers.

3:144
And not (is) Muhammad - except a Messenger, certainly passed away from before him [the] (other) Messengers. So if he died or is slain will you turn back on your heels? And whoever turns back on his heels then never will he harm Allah (in) anything. And will reward Allah the grateful ones.

7:38
He (will) say, "Enter among (the) nations (who) passed away from before you of the jinn and the men in the Fire." Every time entered a nation it cursed its sister (nation) until when they had overtaken one another in it all, (will) say (the) last of them about the first of them, "Our Lord, these misled us so give them punishment double of the Fire." He (will) say, "For each (is) a double [and] but not you know."

41:25
And We have destined for them companions (who) made fair-seeming to them, what between (their) hands (before them) and what (was) behind them, and (is) justified against them the Word among nations (that have) indeed passed away from before them of the jinn and the men. Indeed, they were losers.

48:23
(The established) way (of) Allah which that passed away from before, and never you will find in (the) way (of) Allah any change.

40:85
But not did benefit them their faith when they saw Our punishment. (Such is the) Way (of) Allah which (has) indeed preceded among His slaves. And are lost there the disbelievers.

Or (do) you think that you will enter Paradise while not (has) come to you like (came to) those who passed away from before you? Touched them [the] adversity and [the] hardship, and they were shaken until said the Messenger and those who believed with him, "When [will] (the) help (of) Allah (come) Unquestionably, [Indeed] help (of) Allah (is) near.

10:102
Then do they wait except like the days (of) those who passed away from before them? Say, "Then wait indeed, I (am) with you among the ones who wait."

And verily, We have sent down to you Verses clear, and an example of those who passed away from before you, and an admonition for those who fear (Allah).

Not (there can) be upon the Prophet any discomfort in what has imposed Allah on him. (That is the) Way (of) Allah concerning those who passed away from before. And is (the) Command (of) Allah a decree destined.

(Such is the) Way (of) Allah with those who passed away from before and never you will find in (the) Way (of) Allah any change.

2:14
And when they meet those who believe[d], they say, "We believe[d]." But when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, "Indeed, we (are) with you, only we (are) mockers."

Lo! You are those, you love them but not they love you and you believe in the Book - all of it. And when they meet you they say, "We believe." And when they are alone they bite at you the finger tips (out) of [the] rage. Say, Die in your rage. Indeed. Allah (is) All-Knowing of what (is in) the breasts."

Then when have passed the months sacred, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and seize them and besiege them and sit (in wait) for them (at) every place of ambush. But if they repent and establish the prayer and give the zakah then leave their way. Indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
