General Root Meaning
to be or become cool, remain quiet, be steadfast, be firm, refresh, be stable, be firm, receive satisfy, affirm, agree, settle, last. qarar - stability, a fixed or secure place, depository, place ahead. qurratun - coolness, delight. aqarra (vb. 4) - to confirm, cause to rest or remain. istaqarra (vb. 10) - to remain firm. mustaqirrun - that which remains firmly fixed or confirmed, in hiding, is lasting, which certainly comes to pass, which is settled in its being/goal/purpose. mustaqar - firmly fixed/established, sojourn, abode. qurratun - coolness, refreshment, source of joy and comfort. qawarir (pl. of qaruratun) - glasses, crystals.

And when took Allah covenant (of) the Prophets, "Certainly, whatever I (have) given you of (the) Book and wisdom then comes to you a Messenger confirming that which (is) with you, you must believe in him and you must help him." He said, "Do you affirm and take on that (condition) My Covenant?" They said, "We affirm." He said, "Then bear witness, and I (am) with you among the witnesses."

He said, "Never you (can) see Me, but look at the mountain [then] if it remains in its place then you see Me." But when revealed (His) Glory his Lord to the mountain, He made it crumbled to dust and fell down Musa unconscious. And when he recovered he said, "Glory be to You! I turn (in repentance) to you, and I am (the) first (of) the believers."

And you killed a man, but We saved you from the distress, and We tried you (with) a trial. Then you remained (some) years with (the) people (of) Madyan. Then you came at the decreed (time) O Musa!

33:51
You may defer whom you will of them or you may take to yourself whom you will. And whoever you desire of those whom you (had) set aside - then (there is) no blame upon you. That (is) more suitable that may be cooled their eyes and not they grieve and they maybe pleased with what you have given them - all of them. And Allah knows what (is) in your hearts. And is Allah All-Knower, Most Forbearing.

28:13
So We restored him to his mother that might be comforted her eye, and not she may grieve and that she would know, that the Promise (of) Allah (is) true. But most of them (do) not know.

Allah (is) the One Who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a canopy and He formed you and perfected your forms, and provided you of the good things. That (is) Allah, your Lord. Then blessed (is) Allah, (the) Lord (of) the worlds.

O mankind! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then indeed, We We created you from dust, then from a semen-drop then from a clinging substance then from an embryonic lump, formed and without form, that We may make clear to you. And We cause to remain in the wombs what We will for a term appointed, then We bring you out (as) a child, [then] that you may reach [your] maturity. And among you (is he) who dies, and among you (is he) who is returned to the most abject age, so that not he knows, from after having known, anything. And you see the earth barren then when We send down on it water, it gets stirred and it swells and grows of every kind beautiful.
