General Root Meaning
to pity, be anxious about, fear.
shafaq - fear, pity, evening, twilight with its redness or whiteness, after sunset.
ashfaqa - to be afraid.
mushfiqun - one who is afraid or is in terror, compassionate, fearful one, tender.
   a-ashfaqtum   (1)

58:13
Are you afraid to offer (from) between hands your private consultation charities? Then when not you do and has forgiven Allah you, then establish the prayer and give the zakah, and obey Allah and His Messenger. And Allah (is) All-Aware of what you do.

But nay! I swear by the twilight glow,

   mush'fiqūna   (4)

Those who fear their Lord in the unseen, and they of the Hour (are) afraid.

Indeed, those who [they] from (the) fear (of) their Lord (are) cautious.

Seek to hasten [of] it those who (do) not believe in it, and those who believe (are) fearful of it and know that it (is) the truth. Unquestionably, indeed, those who dispute concerning the Hour (are) certainly in error far.

You will see the wrongdoers fearful of what they earned, and it (will) befall [on] them. And those who believe and do righteous deeds (will be) in flowering meadows (of) the Gardens, for them (is) whatever they wish with their Lord. That - it (is) the Bounty the Great.

52:26
They will say, "Indeed, we [we] were before among our families fearful,

Indeed, We [We] offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, but they refused to bear it and they feared from it; but bore it the man. Indeed, he was unjust ignorant.
