General Root Meaning
to abide in a place, halt, settle in a place, detain anyone (in a place), lodge.
mathwa - dwelling, abode, lodging, resort, resting place, stay.
thaawin (for thaawiyun) - dweller.
   thāwiyan   (1)

28:45
But We [We] produced generations and prolonged for them the life. And not you were a dweller among (the) people (of) Madyan, reciting to them Our Verses, but We [We] were the Senders.

6:128
And (the) Day He will gather them all, (and will say), "O assembly (of) [the] jinn! Certainly, you have (misled) many of the mankind." And will say their friends among the men, "Our Lord profited some of us by others, and we have reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire (is) your abode, will abide forever in it, except (for) what wills Allah Indeed, your Lord (is) All-Wise, All-Knowing.

12:21
And said the one who bought him of Egypt to his wife, "Make comfortable his stay. Perhaps that (he) will benefit us or we will take him (as) a son." And thus We established Yusuf in the land that We might teach him from (the) interpretation of the events. And Allah (is) Predominant over His affairs, but most (of) the people (do) not know.

And sought to seduce him she who, he (was) in her house from his self. And she closed the doors and she said, "Come on you." He said, "I seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, he (is) my lord (who has) made good my stay. Indeed, not will succeed the wrongdoers."

Then if they endure, the Fire (is) an abode for them; and if they ask for favor, then not they (will be) of those who receive favor.

47:12
Indeed, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds (to) Gardens, flow from underneath it the rivers, but those who disbelieve they enjoy and eat as eat the cattle, and the Fire (will be) an abode for them.

29:68
And who (is) more unjust than (he) who invents against Allah a lie or denies the truth when it has come to him. Is there not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers?

39:32
Then who (is) more unjust than (one) who lies against Allah and denies the truth when it comes to him? Is (there) not in Hell an abode for the disbelievers?

And (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection you will see those who lied about Allah, their faces (will be) blackened. Is (there) not in Hell an abode for the arrogant?

We will cast in (the) hearts (of) those who disbelieve [the] terror because they associated partners with Allah, what not He sent down about it any authority, and their refuge (will be) the Fire and wretched (is the) abode [of] the wrongdoers.

16:29
So enter (the) gates (of) Hell (to) abide forever in it. Surely, wretched (is the) abode (of) the arrogant.

39:72
It will be said, "Enter (the) gates (of) Hell (to) abide eternally therein, and wretched is (the) abode (of) the arrogant."

40:76
Enter (the) gates (of) Hell (to) abide forever in it, and wretched is (the) abode (of) the arrogant."

So know that [He] - (there is) no god but Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and the believing women. And Allah knows your movement and your resting places.
