Ya-Alif-Siin
General Root Meaning
to despair, desperate, to give up hope, to know, be acquainted with, realise. It is a synonym of qanata (Qaf-Nun-Tay) to cut of the hope.
Ya'isa (prf. 3rd. p. sing.): He despaired, realized.
Ya'isuu (prf. 3rd. p. m. plu. ): They have despaired.
Ya'isna (prf. 3rd. p. f. plu.): They (f.) despaired of menstruation.
Ya'asu (imp. 3rd. p. m. sing.): Despairers.
Laa Ta'iasuu (prt. neg. m. plu.): Despair not.
Ista 'isa (prf. 3rd. p. m. sing. X): Despaired.
Ista'isuu (prf 3rd. p. m. plu. X. ): They despaired.
Ya'uusun (n. ints.): totally despaired person.

12:110
Until when gave up hope the Messengers, and thought that they certainly were denied, then came to them Our help, and was saved whom We willed. And not (can) be repelled Our punishment from the people (who are) criminals.

So when they despaired of him, they secluded themselves (in) private consultation. Said the eldest among them, "Do not you know that your father, indeed has taken upon you a promise by Allah, and from before that you failed concerning Yusuf? So never will I leave the land until permits me my father or decides Allah for me, and He (is) the Best (of) the judges.

O my sons! Go and inquire about Yusuf and his brother, and not despair of (the) Mercy (of) Allah. Indeed, none despairs of (the) Mercy (of) Allah except the people the disbelievers."

(Does) not get tired man of praying (for) the good, but if touches him the evil then he gives up hope (and) despairs.

And if We give a taste (to) the man from Us (of) Mercy, then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he (is) despairing (and) ungrateful.

5:3
Are made unlawful on you the dead animals, and the blood, and flesh (of) the swine, and what has been dedicated to other than Allah, [on it], and that which is strangled (t and that which is hit fatally, and that which has a fatal fal and that which is gored by hor and that which ate (it) the wild animal except what you slaughtered, and what is sacrificed on the stone altars, and that you seek division by divining arrows - that (is) grave disobedience. This day (have) despaired those who disbelieved of your religion, so (do) not fear them, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and I have completed upon you My Favor and I have approved for you [the] Islam (as) a religion. But whoever (is) forced by hunger (and) not inclining to sin, then indeed, Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

60:13
O you who believe! (Do) not make allies (of) a people, Wrath Allah (is) upon them. Indeed, they despair of the Hereafter as despair the disbelievers of (the) companions (of) the graves.

65:4
And those who have despaired of the menstruation among your women, if you doubt, then their waiting period (is) three months, and the ones who not [they] menstruated. And those who (are) pregnant, their term until they deliver their burdens. And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him of his affair ease.

And those who disbelieve in (the) Signs (of) Allah and (the) meeting (with) Him, those (have) despaired of My Mercy. And those, for them (is) a punishment painful.

60:13
O you who believe! (Do) not make allies (of) a people, Wrath Allah (is) upon them. Indeed, they despair of the Hereafter as despair the disbelievers of (the) companions (of) the graves.

And when We bestow favor on man he turns away and becomes remote on his side. And when touches him the evil he is (in) despair.

13:31
And if that was any Quran, could be moved by it the mountains, or could be cloven asunder by it the earth, or could be made to speak by it the dead. Nay, with Allah (is) the command all. Then do not know those who believe that if had willed Allah surely, He would have guided (of) the mankind all? And not will cease those who disbelieve to strike them for what they did a disaster, or it settles close from their homes until comes (the) Promise (of) Allah. Indeed, Allah (will) not fail (in) the Promise.
