Ha Mim.
The revelation of this Book is from God, the Almighty, the Wise.
In the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers.
In your own creation and in the creatures He spreads throughout are signs for people who have certainty.
In the alternation of night and day, in the provision God sends down from the sky to revive the earth after its death, and in the shifting of the winds are signs for people who reason.
These are the verses of God that We recite to you in truth. So in what message after God and His verses will they believe?
Woe to every sinful liar.
He hears the verses of God recited to him, then persists in arrogance as if he never heard them. So give him news of a painful punishment.
When he learns anything of Our verses, he takes them in mockery. For such people there is a humiliating punishment.
Hell awaits them. Nothing they earned will benefit them, nor will those they took as protectors besides God. For them is a tremendous punishment.
This is guidance. Those who reject the verses of their Lord will have a punishment of painful torment.
God is the One who subjected the sea for you so that ships may sail through it by His command, and so that you may seek His favor, and so that you may be grateful.
He subjected for you everything in the heavens and everything on earth, all from Him. In that are signs for people who reflect.
Say, "Tell the believers to forgive those who do not expect the Days of God, so that He may repay a people for what they used to earn."
Whoever does good, it is for their own soul. Whoever does evil, it is against it. Then to your Lord you will be returned.
We gave the Children of Israel the Scripture, wisdom, and prophethood. We provided them with good things and favored them over all peoples.
We gave them clear proofs in matters of religion. They did not differ until after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they used to differ about.
Then We placed you on a clear path of religion, so follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know.
They will never avail you anything against God. The wrongdoers are allies of one another, but God is the Ally of those who are mindful of Him.
This is insight for humanity, guidance and mercy for people who have certainty.
Do those who commit evil deeds think We will make them equal to those who believe and do good, equal in their life and death? How terrible is their judgment!
God created the heavens and the earth in truth, so that every soul may be repaid for what it acquired, and they will not be wronged.
Have you seen the one who takes his own desire as his god, whom God knowingly lets go astray, sealing his hearing and his heart and placing a veil over his sight? Who can guide him after God? Will you not take heed?
They say, "There is nothing but this worldly life of ours. We die and we live, and nothing destroys us but time." They have no knowledge of this; they are only guessing.
When Our clear verses are recited to them, their only argument is to say, "Bring back our ancestors, if you are truthful."
Say, "God gives you life, then causes you to die, then gathers you for the Day of Resurrection about which there is no doubt, but most people do not know."
To God belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. On the Day the Hour arrives, that Day the falsifiers will lose.
You will see every nation kneeling. Every nation will be called to its record: "Today you are repaid for what you used to do."
This is Our record that speaks against you with truth. We have been recording everything you used to do.
Those who believed and did good deeds, their Lord will admit them into His mercy. That is the clear triumph.
But those who disbelieved: "Were My verses not recited to you? Yet you were arrogant and became a criminal people."
When it was said, "God's promise is true, and the Hour is beyond doubt," you said, "We do not know what the Hour is. We only assume, and we are not convinced."
The evil of what they did will become clear to them, and what they used to mock will close in on them.
It will be said, "Today We forget you, just as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours. Your refuge is the Fire, and you have no helpers."
That is because you took God's verses as a joke, and worldly life deceived you. So today they will not be brought out of it, nor will they be allowed to make amends.
All praise belongs to God, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of all worlds.
To Him belongs all greatness in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Almighty, the Wise.
