Those who disbelieve and turn others away from the path of God, He has rendered their deeds worthless.
Those who believe, do righteous deeds, and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad, which is the truth from their Lord, He has absolved them of their sins and set right their condition.
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does God set forth for people their examples.
When you meet those who disbelieve in battle, strike at their necks until you have thoroughly subdued them, then bind them firmly. Afterward, either release them as a favor or for ransom, until war lays down its burdens. That is so. Had God willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them Himself, but He tests some of you by means of others. Those who are killed in the cause of God, He will never let their deeds go to waste.
He will guide them and set right their condition.
He will admit them into Paradise, which He has made known to them.
O you who believe, if you support God, He will support you and make your feet stand firm.
As for those who disbelieve, destruction awaits them, and He has rendered their deeds worthless.
That is because they despised what God sent down, so He nullified their deeds.
Have they not traveled through the land to see what became of those before them? God destroyed them utterly, and the disbelievers will face the same fate.
That is because God is the Protector of those who believe, while the disbelievers have no protector.
God will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds into gardens beneath which rivers flow. Those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as cattle eat, and the Fire will be their dwelling.
How many a town was mightier than your town that drove you out? We destroyed them, and they had no helper.
Is one who stands on clear proof from his Lord like one whose evil deeds have been made appealing to him, and they follow their own desires?
The likeness of Paradise promised to the mindful: in it are rivers of water never stagnant, rivers of milk whose taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of pure honey. There they will have every kind of fruit and forgiveness from their Lord. Is this like those who dwell eternally in the Fire and are given boiling water to drink that tears apart their intestines?
Among them are those who listen to you, but when they leave your presence, they say to those given knowledge, "What did he just say?" Those are the ones whose hearts God has sealed, and they follow their own desires.
Those who are guided, He increases them in guidance and grants them their mindfulness.
Are they waiting for anything but the Hour to come upon them suddenly? Its signs have already arrived. How will they take heed once it has come upon them?
Know that there is no god but God, and seek forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. God knows your movements and your resting place.
Those who believe say, "Why has no chapter been sent down?" But when a decisive chapter is sent down and fighting is mentioned in it, you see those with sickness in their hearts looking at you like someone fainting at the approach of death. So woe to them!
Obedience and good words would be better. When the matter is resolved, if they had been true to God, it would have been better for them.
Would you, if you turned away, spread corruption on earth and sever your family ties?
These are the ones God has cursed, making them deaf and blinding their eyes.
Do they not reflect on the Quran, or are there locks upon their hearts?
Those who turned back on their heels after guidance became clear to them, Satan enticed them and filled them with false hopes.
That is because they said to those who hate what God has sent down, "We will obey you in some matters." But God knows their secrets.
How will it be when the angels take their souls, striking their faces and their backs?
That is because they followed what angers God and hated His pleasure, so He rendered their deeds worthless.
Or do those with sickness in their hearts think that God will not expose their hatred?
If We willed, We could show them to you, and you would recognize them by their marks. But you will surely recognize them by the tone of their speech. God knows your deeds.
We will certainly test you until We distinguish those among you who strive and those who are steadfast, and We will test your true character.
Those who disbelieve, block others from God's path, and oppose the Messenger after guidance has become clear to them will never harm God in the least, and He will render their deeds worthless.
O you who believe, obey God and obey the Messenger, and do not let your deeds go to waste.
Those who disbelieve, block others from God's path, and then die as disbelievers, God will never forgive them.
So do not weaken and call for peace when you have the upper hand. God is with you and will never deprive you of the reward for your deeds.
The life of this world is only play and amusement. If you believe and are mindful of God, He will give you your rewards and will not ask you for your wealth.
If He were to ask you for it and press you, you would be stingy, and He would expose your hatred.
Here you are, called to spend in God's cause, yet some of you are stingy. Whoever is stingy is only stingy toward himself. God is the Self-Sufficient, and you are the needy. If you turn away, He will replace you with another people, and they will not be like you.
