59:1  Whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth has existed in expression of the most beautiful attributes of Allah. HE is the Almighty, All-Wise.
59:2  HE is WHO ejected the ones who had rejected the Truth from among the people of the timeless Book from their homes to the first gathering. You did not think that they would leave, and they had assumed that their fortresses were their preventive device against Allah. Then Allah came to them from where they were not expecting and cast that overwhelming fear in their hearts. They were dismantling their own homes with their own hands and the hands of the believers. So, take a lesson, O people of insight.
59:3  If Allah had not decreed their evacuation for them, HE would have certainly punished them in this world, and for them in the Hereafter is the punishment of the Fire.
59:4  That is because they breached [their trust with] Allah and HIS messenger. And whoever breaches [his trust with] Allah— assuredly Allah is firm of requital.
59:5  Whatever you had cut down of any palm tree or left standing on its roots— it was by the leave of Allah, and to disgrace the iniquitous ones.
59:6  And whatever Allah shifted to HIS messenger from them— you mobilized neither a horse nor a camel for it. But it is Allah, HE gives sway to HIS messengers over whosoever HE wills. Allah has almighty control over all things and their measure.
59:7  Whatever Allah shifted to HIS messenger from the residents of the townships— that is for Allah and HIS messenger, and those close by right of kinship [to those who died in battle] and the orphans, and the needy and the wayfarer— so not to be in mere circulation amongst the rich of you. So then, whatever the Messenger gives to you, take it, and whatever he forbids you from, renounce it, and be conscious of Allah. Hearken! Allah is firm of requital.
59:8  [It is also] for the poor of the emigrants, the ones who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking grace from Allah and [HIS] assent, and supporting Allah and HIS messenger. Such as them— they are the ones who live the Truth.
59:9  And [also for] the ones settled in the family home and in Faith before them. They love the ones who emigrated unto them and find no want in their hearts for what the others were given, and prioritize them over themselves, even if poverty had beset them. Whosoever is spared his soul’s possessiveness— those very ones are the truly successful.
59:10  And the ones who came [into the Faith] after them, say, “Our Rabb, forgive us and our brothers, those who have preceded us in Faith, and do not allow in our hearts any resentment for the ones who have embraced Faith. Our Rabb, YOU indeed are kind, ever merciful.
59:11  Have you not seen the ones who had acted hypocritically, saying to their brethren— the ones from among the people of the Scripture who had disbelieved, “If you are expelled, we too will categorically exit with you, and we will not ever obey anyone else in [any matter] pertaining to you. And if you are fought against, we will categorically support you.” Allah bears witness that they are plain liars.
59:12  If they are expelled, they will not exit with them, and if they are fought against, they will not help them. And if they do [undertake to] help them, they will most certainly turn their backs in flight. Then they will not be helped.
59:13  You [believers] constitute a greater fear in their hearts than Allah. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend [the Truth].
59:14  They will not fight you as a whole, except from inside of fortified strongholds, or from behind walls. Amongst their own, their courage is fierce. You think of them of them as whole, but their hearts are in pieces. That is because they are a people who do not care to understand:
59:15  In the pattern of the ones before them in the near past, who tasted the ill consequence of their own undertakings. And for them is an agonizing punishment.
59:16  In the pattern of Satan— when he says to the man [he seeks to mislead], “Disbelieve,” then when [the man] has abandoned faith, he says, “Surely, I am absolved of you. I do indeed fear Allah the Rabb of all Realms.”
59:17  So then, the end-fate of both is that they both are to be in the fire, therein to abide. And that is the recompense of the unjust.
59:18  O you who have embraced Faith, be conscious of Allah and let every soul consider what it has put forward for the morrow. Remain conscious of Allah. Hearken! Allah is ever aware of what you do.
59:19  And do not be like the ones who have forgotten Allah. For [such as them], HE has caused them to forget their own souls. Those very ones are the iniquitous ones.
59:20  The reapers of the Fire and the residents of Paradise do not match up. The residents of Paradise— they are the successful ones.
59:21  If WE had sent this Quran down upon a mountain, you would have seen it humble itself, self-imploding from the awe of Allah. Such analogies, WE present to humankind, to enable them to give thought.
59:22  HE is Allah, the One WHO— no god is there except HIM. Knower of the unseeable Reality and the witnessed. HE is the Source of all mercy, the ever merciful.
59:23  HE is Allah, the one WHO — no god is there except HIM. The Sovereign, the Holy, The Peace, The Guardian of Faith, the Preserving Guardian of existence, the Almighty, the ever-irresistible Compeller, the supremely Superb. Limitless is the glory of Allah, limitlessly apart from what they associate [with HIM].
59:24  HE is Allah. The Creator, the Originator, the Shaper. To HIM belong the Most Beautiful names. Whatsoever there is in the heavens and the earth, exists purposefully and dutifully in exclusive reverence to HIM. HE is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
