58:1  Allah has indeed heard the plea of her who disputes with you regarding her spouse while she complains unto Allah. Allah hears your exchange. Verily, Allah is all-hearing, all-seeing.

58:2  The ones amongst you who forswear their wives [likening them to their mothers]— they are not their mothers. Their mothers are none other than the ones who gave them birth. They indeed utter an abominable of the sayings along with a falsehood. Surely, Allah is much pardoning, forgiving.

58:3  And the ones who forswear their wives and thereafter revert [to their relationship] despite what they had said, then [incumbent on them] is the freeing of a slave before touching each other. Thus, are you admonished regarding it, and Allah is fully aware of what you do.

58:4  Whoever cannot find the means, then fasting for two consecutive months before touching each other. Whoever lacks the capacity [to fast], then feeding of sixty needy persons. That, so you may believe in Allah and HIS messenger. Those are the bounds set by Allah. And for the disbelievers is an agonizing punishment.

58:5  Surely, the ones who are contrarian to Allah and HIS messenger— they will be stifled, as were stifled the ones before them. WE have already sent down telling verses, and for the disbelievers is a humbling punishment.

58:6  On a day Allah will raise them all together, so HE may apprise them of what they did. Allah has kept account of it while they have forgotten it. Allah is a witness over all things.

58:7  Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and in the earth? There is not any closed conference of three, except that HE is the fourth of them, nor of five except that HE is the sixth of them and neither less than that nor more than that, except that HE is with them, wherever that be. Then on the Day of Resurrection, HE will apprise them about what they did. Surely, Allah is ever knowing of all things.

58:8  Have you not looked towards those who having been forbidden from secret conferences, still repeat what they were forbidden from and conspire together in sin, hostility, and disobedience to the Messenger? And when they come to you and greet you with that which Allah does not greet you with, and they say within themselves, “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” Jahannam is their sufficing reckoning. They will fuel it— wretched is the journey’s end.

58:9  O you who have embraced Faith, when you confer privately, do not exchange ideas purporting the sinful, the hostile, and disobedience of the Messenger, but exchange ideas purporting to the embodiment of righteousness and piety, and stay conscious of Allah, the One unto Whom you all are to be gathered.

58:10  The secret converses [counter to righteousness and piety] are only from Satan, so he may cause grief to the ones who have believed. And he is not ever a harmer of them in any way, except with the permission of Allah. Therefore, upon Allah let the believers rely.

58:11  O you who have embraced Faith, when it is said to you, “Make room in the assemblies,” then do make room. Allah will make room for you. And when it is said, “Rise,” then rise. Allah will elevate in ranks the ones among you who have embraced Faith, alongside the ones who have been given the Knowledge. Allah is ever aware of what you do.

58:12  O you who have embraced Faith, when you are to consult the Messenger privately, offer alms ahead of your private session. That is better for you and more purifying. However, if you did not find the means— then indeed, Allah is forgiving, ever merciful.

58:13  Have you been concerned about offering alms ahead of your private consultation with the Messenger? Then, when [out of concern] you do not do so— Allah forgives you. Do then, maintain the Prayers for anchor and give Zakat and obey Allah and HIS messenger. Allah is ever aware of what you do.

58:14  Have you not looked at those who take for allies a people with whom Allah is indignant? They are not of you nor of them. And they [declaratively] swear to the plainly false, while they know so.

58:15  Allah has proportioned a severe punishment for them. Surely, depraved is what they do.

58:16  They have taken their oaths as a ruse, so to block others from the Way of Allah. So then, for them is a humbling punishment.

58:17  Neither their wealth, nor their children are to avail them at all against Allah. It is they who are the reapers of the fire, abiders therein.

58:18  On a day Allah will raise them all together. Then they will [declaratively] swear to HIM as they [declaratively] swear to you. They figure that they are on something. Without question, they are the liars?

58:19  Satan exercised his influence over them, and so he made them forget the remembrance of Allah. They are the partisans of Satan. Unquestionably, it is the partisans of Satan who are the losers.

58:20  Verily, those who act contrary to Allah and HIS messenger— they are amongst the most abased.

58:21  Allah has decreed, “I categorically shall prevail—I and MY messengers.” Verily, Allah is all-powerful, Almighty.

58:22  You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving anyone who acts contrary to Allah and HIS messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. HE has inscribed Faith in the hearts of such and strengthened them with a spirit from HIM. And HE will admit them in gardens with streams flowing subservient to them, to abide therein. Allah has accepted from them [their devotion], and they have accepted from HIM [HIS reward]. They are the partisans of Allah. Unquestionably, the partisans of Allah are the successful ones.
