General Root Meaning
to beg pardon, to excuse, to free anyone from guilt or blame, excuse/plea, those who put forth excuses, apologists.
Ma'dhiratan (v. n. acc.): As an excuse.
'Udhran (v. n. acc.): Excuse; An attempt to purify from the abomination of sin.
Ma'aadhiir (n. plu.): Excuses.
Laa Ta'tadhiruu (prt. neg. m. plu. ): Offer no excuse.
Mu'adhdhiruuna (ap-der. plu. II): Those who make or put forth an excuse.

  
l-muʿadhirūna   (1)

9:90
And came the ones who make excuses of the bedouins, that permission be granted to them, and sat, those who lied (to) Allah and His Messenger. Will strike those who disbelieved among them a punishment painful.

  
taʿtadhirū   (2)

9:66
(Do) not make excuse; verily, you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon [on] a party of you We will punish a party, because they were criminals.

9:94
They will make excuses to you when you (have) returned to them. Say, "(Do) not make excuse, never we will believe you. Verily, (has) informed us Allah of your news, and will see Allah your deeds, and His Messenger. Then you will be brought back to, (the) Knower (of) the unseen and the seen, then He will inform you of what you used (to) do.

66:7
"O you who disbelieve! (Do) not make excuses today. Only you will be recompensed (for) what you used to do."
