General Root Meaning
To walk step by step, proceed gradually, destroy by degrees, insert a thing, unwrap, come gradually to, deceive, show forbearance to (a sinner).

Nastadriju (imp. 1st. p. plu. X.): We shall lead (to destruction) step by step.
Darajatun (n.): Degree of superiority; place above
Darajat (n. plu.): Many degrees, grades, exalted degrees of ranks.

These (are) the Messengers We (have) preferred some of them over others. Among them (were those with) whom spoke Allah, and He raised some of them (in) degrees. And We gave Isa, son (of) Maryam, the clear proofs and We supported him with Spirit [the] Holy. And if (had) willed Allah not (would have) fought each other those who (came) from after them, from after [what] came to them the clear proofs. [And] but they differed, [so] of them (are some) who believed and of them (are some) who denied. And if (had) willed Allah not they (would have) fought each [and] but Allah does what He intends.

12:76
So he began with their bags before (the) bag (of) his brother; then he brought it out from (the) bag (of) his brother. Thus (did) We plan for Yusuf. Not he could take his brother by the law (of) the king, except that willed Allah We raise (in) degrees whom We will, but over every possessor (of) knowledge (is) the All-Knower.

17:21
See how We preferred some of them over others. And surely the Hereafter (is) greater (in) degrees and greater (in) excellence.

43:32
Do they distribute (the) Mercy (of) your Lord? We [We] distribute among them their livelihood in the life (of) the world, and We raise some of them above others (in) degrees so that may take, some of them, others, (for) service. But (the) Mercy (of) your Lord (is) better than what they accumulate.

O you who believe! When it is said to you "Make room," in the assemblies then make room, will make room Allah for you. And when it is said "Rise up," then rise up; Allah will raise Allah those who believe among you and those who were given the knowledge, (in) degrees. And Allah of what you do (is) All-Aware.

6:165
And He (is) the One Who (has) made you successors (of) the earth and raised some of you above others (in) ranks, so that He may test you in what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord (is) swift (in) the punishment, and indeed, He (is) [certainly], Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Ranks from Him and forgiveness, and mercy. And is Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

And what (is) for you that not you spend in (the) way (of) Allah? while for Allah (is the) heritage (of) the heavens and the earth? Not are equal among you (those) who spent from before the victory and fought. Those (are) greater (in) degree than those who spent from afterwards and fought. But to all, has promised Allah the best. And Allah of what you do (is) All-Aware.

4:95
Not (are) equal the ones who sit among the believers, other than the ones (who are) [the] disabled, and the ones who strive in (the) way (of) Allah with their wealth and their lives. Preferred (has) Allah the ones who strive with their wealth and their lives to the ones who sit (in) rank. And (to) all promised (has) Allah the best. Preferred (has) Allah the ones who strive over the ones who sit (with) a reward great,

9:20
Those who believed and emigrated and strove in (the) way (of) Allah with their wealth and their lives (are) greater (in) rank near Allah. And those - they (are) the successful.

And the women who are divorced shall wait concerning themselves (for) three monthly periods. And (it is) not lawful for them that they conceal what (has been) created (by) Allah in their wombs, if they believe in Allah and the Day [the] Last. And their husbands (have) better right to take them back in that (period) if they wish (for) reconciliation. And for them (is the) like (of) that which (is) on them in a reasonable manner, and for the men over them (is) a degree. And Allah (is) All-Mighty, All-Wise.

But those who denied Our Signs, We will gradually lead them from where not they know.

68:44
So leave Me and whoever denies this Statement, We will progressively lead the from where not they know.
