Dal-Ra-Kaf
General Root Meaning
To overtake, follow up, drop closely, one part following another uninterruptedly, sought/pursued and attained/reached, perceived it or attained a knowledge of it (i.e. by senses), attained its final time or state or its utmost point or degree, it passed away and came to an end, came to naught, became exhausted, failed entirely, the bottom or lowest depth of a thing i.e. sea or of anything deep, a stage downwards (e.g. Hell).

Adraka (prf. 3rd. p.m. sing. IV.): Overtook; Was about to (be drowned).
Yudriku (imp. 3rd. p.m. sing. IV.): He overtakes, comprehends.
Tudriku (imp. 3rd. p.m. f. sing. IV.): She comprehends.
Tadaaraka (prf. 3rd. p.m. sing. IV.): He reached, favoured.
Iddaarak (prf. 3rd. p.m. sing. VIII.): He has found its limit, has reached, has attained.
Iddaarakuu (prf. 3rd. p.m. plu. VIII.): They reached one after another, have all followed one another, have overtaken one another.
Darak (v.n.): Abyss; lowest reaches.
Darkan (v.n.): Overtaking, being overtaken.
Mudrakuuna (pis. pic. m. plu. IV.): Overtaken.

And We took across (the) Children (of) Israel - the sea, and followed them Firaun and his hosts (in) rebellion and enmity, until when overtook him the drowning, he said, "I believe that (there is) no god except the One, Whom believe in the Children (of) Israel, and I am of the Muslims."

Nay, is arrested their knowledge of the Hereafter? Nay they (are) in doubt about it. Nay, they about it (are) blind.

And whoever emigrates in (the) way (of) Allah, will find in the earth place(s) of refuge - many, and abundance. And whoever leaves from his home (as) an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then overtakes him [the] death, then certainly (became) incumbent his reward on Allah. And is Allah Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
