to tie/fasten/bind/conform/strengthen, lay (anchor), be firm, stationed on (e.g. the enemy's frontier), keep post, keep/apply yourself preseveringly to something, remain on or at something, army, equip, fortify, brace, be ever ready, make ready for an impact. ribat - body of horse, strungs.
  
ribāṭi   (1)

8:60
And prepare for them whatever you able (to) of force and of tethered horses (cavalry) (to) terrify therewith (the) enemy of Allah, and your enemy and others from besides them, not (do) you know them (but) Allah knows them. And whatever you spend from (any) thing in (the) way (of) Allah it will be fully repaid to you, and you (will) not be wronged.

And became (the) heart (of the) mother (of) Musa empty. That, she was near (to) disclosing about him, if not that We strengthened [over] her heart, so that she would be of the believers.

When He covered you with [the] slumber, a security from Him, and sent down upon you from the sky water, so that He may purify you with it, and take away from you evil (suggestions) (of) the Shaitaan. And to strengthen [on] your hearts and make firm with it your feet.
