General Root Meaning
to place trust in any one, rely upon, bind.
Uthiqu (impf. 3rd. p. m. sing. vb. IV): Shall bind, binds.
Wathaaq: bond, fetter.
Mauthiqan: (v. acc.): compact bond, solemn pledge, undertaking of solemn oath.
Mithaaq (n. ints.): bond, treaty, covenant.
Wuthqaa (ints. f.): firm, strong.
Waathaqa (prf. 3rd. p. m. sing. vb. III): he entered into a compact/treaty. He has bound.

13:20
Those who fulfill the Covenant (of) Allah and not they break the contract,

47:4
So when you meet those who disbelieve, then strike the necks until when you have subdued them, then bind firmly the bond, then either a favor afterwards or ransom until lays down the war its burdens. That. And if had willed Allah surely, He could have taken re from them, but to test some of you with others. And those who are killed in (the) way (of) Allah, then never He will cause to be lost their deeds.

2:256
(There is) no compulsion in the religion. Surely has become distinct the right (path) from the wrong. Then whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah, then surely he grasped the handhold - [the] firm, (which) not (will) break [for it]. And Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

31:22
And whoever submits his face to Allah while he (is) a good-doer, then indeed, he has grasped the handhold the most trustworthy. And to Allah (is the) end (of) the matters.

And We raised over them the mount for their covenant, and We said to them, "Enter the gate, prostrating." And We said to them. "(Do) not transgress in the Sabbath." And We took from them a covenant solemn.

He said, "Never will I send him with you until you give to me a promise by Allah that surely you will bring to him unless that surrounded you are." And when they had given him their promise, he said, "Allah over what we say (is) a Guardian."

12:80
So when they despaired of him, they secluded themselves (in) private consultation. Said the eldest among them, "Do not you know that your father, indeed has taken upon you a promise by Allah, and from before that you failed concerning Yusuf? So never will I leave the land until permits me my father or decides Allah for me, and He (is) the Best (of) the judges.

Except those who join [to] a group between you and between them (is) a treaty or those who come to you restraining their hearts that they fight you or they fight their people. And if (had) willed Allah, surely He (would have) given t over you, and surely they (would have) f So if they withdraw from you and (do) not fight against you and offer to you [the] peace then not (has) made Allah for you against them a way.

4:92
And not is for a believer that he kills a believer except (by) mistake. And whoever killed a believer (by) mistake, then freeing (of) a slave believing and blood money (is to be) paid to his family unless that they remit (as) charity. But if (he) was from a people hostile to you and he was a believer then freeing (of) a slave believing. And if (he) was from a people between you and between them, (is) a treaty, then blood money (is to be) paid to his family, and freeing (of) a slave believing. And whoever (does) not find, then fasting (for) two months consecutively, (seeking) repentance from Allah, and is Allah All-Knowing, All-Wise.

8:72
Indeed, those who believed and emigrated and strove hard with their wealth and their lives in (the) way (of) Allah and those who gave shelter and helped those - some of them (are) allies (of) another. But those who believed and (did) not emigrate, (it is) not for you from their protection (in) anything, until they emigrate. And if they seek your help in the religion, then upon you (is to) help them except against a people between you and between them (is) a treaty. And Allah of what you do (is) All-Seer.

2:83
And when We took (the) covenant (from the) Children (of) Israel, "Not you will worship except Allah, and with [the] parents (be) good and (with) relatives and [the] orphans and the needy, and speak to [the] people good, and establish the prayer and give the zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you (were) refusing.

3:187
And when took Allah a Covenant (from) those who were given the Book, "You certainly make it clear to the mankind and (do) not conceal it. Then they threw it behind their backs and they exchanged [with] it (for) a price little. And wretched (is) what they purchase.

5:12
And certainly took Allah a Covenant (from the) Children (of) Israel and We appointed among them two (and) ten (i.e twelve) leaders. And said Allah, "Indeed, I (am) with you, if you establish the prayer and give the zakah and you believe in My Messengers and you assist them and you loan (to) Allah a loan goodly, surely I will remove from you your evil deeds and I will surely admit you (to) gardens flow from underneath them the rivers. But whoever disbelieved after that among you, then certainly he strayed (from) the way, the right.

5:70
Certainly We took a Covenant (from the) Children (of) Israel and We sent to them Messengers. Whenever came to them any Messenger with what not desired their souls, a group they denied and a group they kill.

3:81
And when took Allah covenant (of) the Prophets, "Certainly, whatever I (have) given you of (the) Book and wisdom then comes to you a Messenger confirming that which (is) with you, you must believe in him and you must help him." He said, "Do you affirm and take on that (condition) My Covenant?" They said, "We affirm." He said, "Then bear witness, and I (am) with you among the witnesses."

Then succeeded from after them successors (who) inherited the Book taking goods (of) this the lower (life) and they say, "It will be forgiven for us." And if comes to them goods similar to it they will take it. Was not taken on them Covenant (of) the Book that not they will say about Allah except the truth while they studied what (is) in it? And the home (of) the Hereafter (is) better for those who fear Allah. So will not you use intellect?

And how could you take it when surely has gone - one of you to another, and they have taken from you covenant strong?

And when We took your covenant and We raised over you the mount, "Hold what We gave you, with firmness and listen." They said, "We heard and we disobeyed." And they were made to drink in their hearts (love of) the calf because of their disbelief. Say, "Evil (is) that orders you (to do) it with your faith, if you are believers."

And what (is) for you (that) not you believe in Allah while the Messenger calls you that you believe in your Lord, and indeed, He has taken your covenant if you are believers.

And those who break the Covenant (of) Allah from after contracting it, and sever what has commanded Allah for it to be joined and spread corruption in the earth. Those - for them (is) the curse, and for them (is) an evil home.

Those who break (the) Covenant (of) Allah from after its ratification, and [they] cut what has ordered Allah it to be joined and [they] spread corruption in the earth. Those, they (are) the losers.

Then because of their breaking (of) their covenant and their disbelief in (the) Signs (of) Allah and their killing (of) the Prophets without any right and their saying, "Our hearts (are) wrapped." Nay, (has) set a seal Allah on their (hearts) for their disbelief so not they believe except a few.

5:13
So for their breaking (of) their covenant We cursed them and We made their hearts hard. They distort the words from their places, and forgot a part of what they were reminded of [it]. And not you will cease to discover of treachery from them except a few of them. But forgive them and overlook. Indeed, Allah loves the good-doers.

5:14
And from those who said, Indeed we (are) Christians," We took their covenant; but they forgot a part of what they were reminded of [it]. So We aroused between them [the] enmity and [the] hatred till (the) Day (of) the Resurrection. And soon will inform them Allah of what they used to do.

33:7
And when We took from the Prophets their Covenant and from you and from Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son (of) Maryam. And We took from them a covenant strong
