9:1
Immunity from Allah and
HIS Messenger is directed at those of the polytheists you have covenanted with.
9:2
So [it is said to the idolaters without a covenant], “Go about in the land for four months and know that you are anything but the thwarters of Allah. And know that Allah is the disbelievers’ disgracer.
9:3
And a proclamation from Allah and
HIS Messenger to all men on the Day of the Greater Pilgrimage: Allah and
HIS Messenger are commitment-free of the polytheists. If you repent, that would be better for you, and if you turn away— do then know that you are not thwarters of Allah. Convey to the ones who have disbelieved about an agonizing punishment.
9:4
Excepted are those of the polytheists who you have covenanted with, and who thereafter did not fail you in any way and did not back anyone against you. Fulfill your commitment to them through its full term. Allah does indeed love the conscientious.
9:5
Then when the sacred months have transpired, slay the polytheists, where you find them; and seize them; and besiege them; and man every post of vantage. But if they repent and make Prayer [their] anchor and give
Zakat, then clear their way. Indeed, Allah is forgiving, ever merciful.
9:6
And if any one of the polytheists asks
you for protection, then protect him until he has heard the word of Allah. Then convey him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who know not.
9:7
How is there to be a treaty for the polytheists with Allah or with
HIS Messenger, except those with whom you made a treaty at the Inviolable House of Worship? Thereupon as long as they remain committed by treaty to you, you should be committed by treaty to them. Indeed, Allah loves the conscientious.
9:8
How is it that when and if they gain the upper hand over you, they do not recognize any rights owed to you nor any responsibility [on their part]. They please you with oral words while their hearts refuse. Most of them are flouters [of their commitments].
9:9
They trade the signs of Allah for a paltry [worldly] gain and hinder others from the path of Allah. How vile is what they do.
9:10
They do not recognize any right owed to one seeking security, nor any responsibility. They are the ones who are the transgressors.
9:11
Yet, if they repent and make Prayer [their] anchor and give
Zakat, then they are your brothers in faith.
WE categorically frame the signs for a people who seek to know.
9:12
And if they break their oaths after their treaty and implicate your faith [for their breach], then fight the leaders of the coverup. They have no oaths— [fight them] so they may desist.
9:13
Will you not fight a people who have broken their oaths, and were frustrated by the extrication of the Messenger [by God], and initiated [the hostilities] with you in the first instance? Are you awed by them, whereas Allah is rightfully more deserving of your awe if you are believers.
9:14
Fight them— Allah will chastise them through your hands.
HE will shame them, and
HE will aid you against them and
HE will heal the bosoms of a believing people.
9:15
And
HE will purge the rage in their hearts, and Allah relents toward whoever
HE wills. Allah is knowing, all-wise.
9:16
Did you figure that you will be sidelined, while Allah is yet to distinguish those among you who strove hard, and did not take an intimate other than Allah, nor other than
HIS Messenger, nor other than the believers? Allah is fully aware of your doings.
9:17
It is not for the idolaters that they facilitate the mosques of Allah. They are witnesses against themselves in [their] disbelief. Those are ones whose works have miscarried. And they are abiders in the fire.
9:18
He only facilitates Allah’s place of worship, who has believed in Allah and the Last Day, and is anchored in prayer, and gives
Zakat, and is in awe of none except Allah. For then, those [such as him] have reason to hope that they be among the rightly guided ones.
9:19
Have you made the provision of water for the pilgrims and facilitation of the inviolable House of Worship equivalent to the [doings] of one who has embraced Faith in Allah and the Last Day and has striven hard in the way of Allah? They do not match up in the sight of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
9:20
The ones who had embraced Faith and left their homes and strove in the way of Allah with their possessions and lives, they have the greatest rank with Allah, and they are the successful ones.
9:21
Their
Rabb conveys to them tidings of mercy from
HIM, and [
HIS] assent, and gardens. For them, therein is ever present bliss.
9:22
Abiders therein beyond time. Of certain, with Allah is the transcendent reward.
9:23
O you who have embraced Faith, do not take your fathers and your brothers as allies if they prefer their disbelief over the belief [in One God]. And whoever amongst you allies with them—those [such as him] are the wrongdoers.
9:24
Say, “If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your spouses, and your relatives, and possessions you have perpetrated, and the trade whose slump you dread, and the dwellings you take pleasure in, are dearer to you than Allah and
HIS Messenger, and the striving in
HIS cause, then bide thus until Allah brings
HIS command to bear. And Allah does not guide the iniquitous people.
9:25
Allah has already helped you in many homelands, and [even] on the day of
Hunayn, when you marveled at your multitude, though it did not avail you in any way, and the earth closed in on you— wide open as it was. Then you were the ones turning back in retreat.
9:26
Thereafter Allah sent down
HIS soothing reassurance upon
HIS Messenger and upon the believers, and sent down forces you did not see, and punished the ones who had disbelieved. And that is the recompense of the disbelievers.
9:27
Further to that, Allah relents, even after that, [granting forgiveness] upon whomever
HE wills! Allah is forgiving, ever merciful.
9:28
O you who have embraced Faith, the idolaters are indeed a defilement. So, let them not approach the Inviolable House of Worship after this year of theirs. And if you fear impoverishment, Allah shall make you independent with
HIS bounty, if
HE has so willed. Of certain, Allah is ever knowing, all-wise.
9:29
Fight the ones who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and forbid not that which Allah and
HIS Messenger have forbidden, and do not subscribe to the religion of the Truth from amongst those who were given the timeless book— until they offer
Jiz'ya as a helping hand from them, while they are passive subjects.
9:30
The Jews have said, “Ezra is the son of Allah,” while the Christians have said, “The Messiah is son of Allah.” That is an utterance of theirs through their mouths, imitating a saying of those before them who had defaced the Truth. Allah has rendered them [spiritually] dead. Whence are they hoodwinked?
9:31
They have taken their Rabbis and their monks, and the Messiah son of Mary, as their lords, besides Allah, while they were commanded that they worship nothing but the One God. There is no god, except
HIM. Infinitely remote is
HE in
HIS glory from what they associate [with
HIM].
9:32
They wish to blow out the light of Allah with their own [made-up] utterances, but Allah negates all but the perfection of
HIS light, though the disbelievers be averse.
9:33
HE is the One
WHO sent
HIS Messenger with the Guidance and a religion of the Truth, so
HE may make it prevail over the [man-made] religion— every aspect of it, even if the idolaters be averse.
9:34
O you who have embraced Faith, many among the Rabbis and the Monks devour the possessions of the people under false pretext and hinder them from the way of Allah. They are those who treasure gold and silver and do not spend them in the way of Allah— give them tidings of an agonizing punishment.
9:35
Of the day when it is heated in the fire of
Jahannam and thereof are branded their foreheads, and their sides and their backs, [it will be said to them]: This is what you treasured for yourselves. Now partake of that which you were treasuring.
9:36
Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months, in Allah’s decree, the day
HE created the heavens and the earth. Among them four are sacred ones. That is the correct religion. So do not wrong yourselves in these months. And fight the polytheists [year-round] without exception, to the extent that they fight you [year-round] without exception and know that Allah is always with the conscientious.
9:37
The abeyance [of sacred months] is only an extra [device] in the coverup of the Truth, by which the ones who have disbelieved are led further astray. They permit it one year and forbid it another year so that they may align to a count which Allah has made sacred. Thus, they permit what Allah has forbidden. Made fair seeming to them is the foulness of their deeds, and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.
9:38
O you who have embraced Faith, what is with you that when it is said to you to head out in the way of Allah, you gravitate toward staying put. Have you been content with the earthly life rather than the Hereafter? For, what is the enjoyment of the earthly life in the Hereafter, except paltry?
9:39
If you do not head out,
HE will chastise you with an agonizing chastisement, and
HE will supplant you with a people in your stead, and not in any way can you harm him. Allah has full control over all things and their measure.
9:40
If you do not help him—Allah did help him [before], when the disbelievers compelled him to depart— second of the two when the two of them were in the cave, when he said to his companion, “Do not grieve. Certainly, Allah is with us.” Then Allah sent down
HIS calming reassurance upon him and aided him with forces, not seen by you, and made the directive of the disbelievers the bottommost while the directive of Allah is the uppermost. And Allah is almighty, wise.
9:41
Go forth, light or heavy, and strive hard with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah. That is best for you—if you only knew.
9:42
Had there been an immediate gain and an easy journey, they would have readily followed
you; but the distance had grown wide on them. And they will soon [declaratively] swear by Allah: “If we had the capacity, we would have surely gone out with you.” They destroy their souls. Allah knows that they are plain liars.
9:43
Allah has pardoned [this] about
you: Why did you give them leave? [It was proper to wait] until the ones who spoke the truth had become evident to
you, and
you had come to know the liars?
9:44
The ones who believe in Allah and the Last Day do not [even] ask for
your permission to strive [in Allah’s cause] with their wealth and their lives. Allah is forever knowing of the God-conscious.
9:45
Only they, who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day, ask permission of
you. And doubts infest their hearts— in their doubt, they waver.
9:46
If they had intended to join the expedition, they surely would have arranged for its readiness. But Allah was averse to their commissioning and held them back. It was said: “Sit out with those who are sitting it out.”
9:47
Had they set out amongst you, they would not have added anything except complication, making the rounds between you, seeking to foment dissension. And some among you would have given ear to them. Allah is all-knowing of the wrongdoers.
9:48
They had indeed sought the [same] dissension before, and had twisted the matters for
you, until the truth arrived, and the command of Allah physically manifested itself. And they are averse to the Truth.
9:49
And among them is such who says, “Give me leave [to stay back] and do not put me through the trial.” Unquestionably, they have succumbed to their trial. And of certain,
Jahannam is ever encompassing of the disbelievers.
9:50
If some good happens to
you, it dismays them, and if a calamitous ordeal befalls
you, they say, “We did indeed adopt our own undertaking from the outset,” and they disavow, and rejoice.
9:51
Say, “Never befalls us except that which Allah has decreed for us.
HE is ever our protector.” And upon Allah, let the believers place their trust.
9:52
Say, “Are you awaiting other than one of two good things regarding us?” We await, concerning you, that either Allah will afflict you with chastisement from
HIS Realm or through our hands. So then, await. We await with you.”
9:53
Say, “Contribute [in God’s way] willingly or reluctantly. It will never be accepted from you. You indeed are an iniquitous people.”
9:54
And what prohibits acceptance of their contributions from them, except that they have disbelieved in Allah and
HIS Messenger, and that they come to the prayers only grudgingly, and that they spend [in God’s way] only reluctantly.
9:55
Therefore, do not
you marvel at their wealth, nor their children. Surely, Allah wills to chastise them through these in the earthly life, and
HE wills for their souls to part while they are still disbelievers.
9:56
They [declaratively] swear by Allah that they truly are of you, while they are not of you. And on the contrary, they are a people deeply terrified.
9:57
If they were to find any nook of refuge, or caves or any opening— they would surely turn to it, and bolt away.
9:58
And among them is he who faults
you in the matter of alms. [It is thus]: If they are given from it, they are pleased and if they are not given from it, they are immediately displeased.
9:59
Were it that they had been pleased with what Allah and
HIS Messenger gave them, and had said, “Allah suffices us. Allah and his Messenger shall give us from
HIS bounty. Surely, we are oriented toward Allah.”
9:60
Alms are for the poor and the needy, and for the workers with responsibility over it, and for those whose hearts are to be won, and for the freeing of those in bondage, and for those in debt due to spending in the way of Allah, and for the wayfarer— as a mandatory obligation from Allah. Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.
9:61
Among them are those who malign the Prophet, saying, “He acts on hearsay.” Say, “A hearsay for your good. He believes in Allah, and he believes [in his mission to bear the Message] for the believers, and is a mercy for those among you who have embraced Faith.” Those who malign the Messenger of Allah—for them is an agonizing punishment.
9:62
They [i.e., the hypocrites] declaratively swear by Allah to you all, to please you, though Allah and
HIS Messenger have the highest right in that they please
HIM—if they truly are believers.
9:63
Do they not know that he who have contradicted Allah and
HIS Messenger, for such is the fire of
Jahannam, abidance therein? That is the transcendent disgrace.
9:64
The hypocrites dread that a
surah will come down against them, spelling out for them what is in their hearts. Say, “Keep mocking. Indeed Allah is ever to expose what you dread [about what your hearts hold].”
9:65
If
you question them, they will certainly say, “We were merely chatting and being playful.” Say, “Is it Allah and
HIS signs and
HIS Messenger that you were mocking?”
9:66
Make no excuse. You already have disbelieved after your belief. If
WE pardon a group from among you,
WE will punish a group because they were flouters of divine guidance.
9:67
The hypocrites, men and women are of each other. They enjoin the immoral and forbid the fair and right, and are tight fisted [about giving], and are forgetful of Allah, and
HE has abandoned them to their fate. Verily, the hypocrites are the ones who are iniquitous.
9:68
Allah has promised the hypocrites—men and the women— and the disbelievers, the fire of
Jahannam —abiders therein. It is their sufficing due. Allah has denounced them and for them is a standing punishment.
9:69
[You hypocrites and disbelievers will meet the same end] like those before you. They were more intense than you in power and exceeded you in wealth and children—they enjoyed their share [of worldly provisions]. You have enjoyed your share just as those before you enjoyed their share. And you have prated like they had prated. Their deeds have miscarried in the world and in the Hereafter. They are those who squandered it all.
9:70
Has there not come to them the account of those before them—people of Noah, and
Aad, and
Thamūd, and the people of Abraham, and the residents of Madyan, and the overturned cities? Their messengers came to them with telling proofs.
So, it was not that Allah did wrong to them, but it was they who wronged themselves.
9:71
Believing men and believing women are protectors and allies of one another. They enjoin the right and fair, and they forbid the immoral, and they make the [daily] Prayer a steadfast anchor, and they give
Zakat and obey Allah and
HIS Messenger. Such as those— Allah shall bestow
HIS mercy upon them. Surely, Allah is almighty, all-wise.
9:72
Allah has promised to the believing men and the believing women, gardens with streams flowing in subservience to them—abiders therein. And sanctified dwellings in the Gardens of Eden. And greatest [of all] is the assent of Allah. That is the transcendent success.
9:73
O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be unyielding against them. Their shelter is
Jahannam, and wretched is that destination.
9:74
They [declaratively] swear by Allah that they have said nothing, while they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after their profession of surrender to God. They were obsessed with what they did not attain. They were but spiteful that Allah and
HIS Messenger had enriched them with
HIS bounty! So, if they repent— that is best for them and if they turn away, Allah will chastise them with an agonizing chastisement in the earthly life, and in the Hereafter. And there will not be a protector for them in the land, nor any helper.
9:75
And among them are such who had pledged unto Allah, “If
HE gives us from
HIS bounty, we shall most certainly spend in alms and we shall indeed be of the righteous.”
9:76
So then when
HE gave them of
HIS bounty, they became miserly with it and reneged. And they were averse.
9:77
So,
HE gave them in consequence, the hypocrisy in their hearts, for having contravened Allah regarding what they had pledged to HIM, and for their persistent lying— to last through to the day they are to meet
HIM.
9:78
Do they not know that Allah knows their hidden thoughts and secret conversations? Indeed, Allah is the absolute knower of all that is hidden.
9:79
Those who fault the avid givers amongst the believers regarding their giving, and ridicule those who cannot find anything to give other than their own striving—Allah shall ridicule them. For them is an agonizing punishment.
9:80
Ask forgiveness for them [O prophet], or do not ask forgiveness for them. If
you ask forgiveness for them seventy times—yet never Allah will forgive them. That because they disbelieved in Allah and
HIS Messenger. Allah does not guide the iniquitous people.
9:81
Those left behind rejoiced in their seats, after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah. They were averse to striving with their wealth and lives in the way of Allah, and had said, “Do not set out in the heat.” Say, “The fire of
Jahannam is a heat more intense.” Had they only understood!
9:82
So, let them laugh a little, and let them weep a lot, a recompense on account of what they are earning.
9:83
And if Allah brings
you back to a party of them, and they thereupon ask
your permission to set out, then say, “Not ever will you go out with me and you will not fight an enemy alongside me. You were pleased to sit back the first time. So, sit with those who stay behind.”
9:84
Do not ever pray over anyone of them who has died, and do not stand [in prayer] by his grave. Verily, they disbelieved in Allah and
HIS Messenger and died while they were still iniquitous.
9:85
Do not
you marvel at their wealth and their children. By them, Allah wills that
HE chastises them in this world, and that their souls depart while they are still disbelievers.
9:86
When a
surah was revealed, [saying,] “Believe in Allah and strive hard with
HIS Messenger,” the people of ample means among them, asked permission of you and said, “Leave us behind to be with those who will sit it out.”
9:87
Pleased were they to be with the ones staying behind. Seals were placed on their hearts, and thus they do not understand.
9:88
On the contrary, the Messenger and those with him, who had believed, strove with their wealth and lives. For them are the good belongings and they are the successful ones.
9:89
Allah has proportioned gardens for them, subservient to which rivers flow, abiders therein— transcendent success, such as that!
9:90
Some of the Bedouin came bearing their apology, in order that they be given leave, while those who lied to Allah and
HIS Messenger sat away. An agonizing chastisement will strike the ones among them who had disbelieved.
9:91
No offense is attributable to the weak, nor to the sick, nor to those who cannot find the means— when it be that they are genuinely for Allah and
HIS Messenger. There is no cause against those who do good in devotion to God. Allah is forgiving, ever merciful.
9:92
And neither [is any offense attributable to] those who, when they came to
you for you to provide them with mounts,
you said to them, “I cannot find anything to carry you on.” They turned back with eyes filled with tears of sorrow, that they could not find the means to spend.
9:93
The only [blameworthy course is] the course taken by those who seek
your permission [to be excused] while they possess the means. They are pleased to be with the ones staying behind. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts, so they do not know.
9:94
They are devising excuses to offer to you when you return to them. Say, “You are not to offer excuses. We will never believe you. Allah has already informed us of the news of you. Allah shall be seeing your doings, and [so will]
HIS Messenger. Thereafter you will be returned unto the Knower of the unwitnessed and the witnessed. Then,
HE will inform you of what you were doing.
9:95
They will be [declaratively] swearing by Allah to you, when you head back to them, so that you may let them be. So, let them be. They indeed are a blight. Their shelter is
Jahannam, as recompense for what they were earning.
9:96
They [declaratively] swear to you, so you may be accepting of them. Even if you accept them—Hearken! Allah will not give
HIS assent to the iniquitous people.
9:97
The Bedouins are more intense of disbelief and hypocrisy, and more likely not knowing of the boundaries which Allah has revealed upon
HIS messenger. Allah is ever knowing, all-wise.
9:98
And among the Bedouins is he who takes what he spends as a levy and awaits the changing cycles of fortune on you. A [delimiting] circle of the flawed perspective is upon them. Allah is all-hearing, ever knowing.
9:99
And among the Bedouins is he who believes in Allah and the Last Day and takes what he spends as means to gain nearness to Allah and the Messenger’s prayers for divine blessings. Indeed, a nearness is there for them. Allah shall admit them into
HIS mercy. Surely, Allah is forgiving, ever merciful.
9:100
The first vanguard of the Emigrants and their Helpers, and those who followed them selflessly in pursuit of goodness— Allah has accepted from them [their devotion], and they have accepted from HIM [HIS reward].
HE has proportioned gardens for them— streams running in subservience to them, abiders therein beyond time— transcendent success, such as that!
9:101
And from among the Bedouins in your surrounding areas, there are hypocrites, and as well from the people of Medina, who have been intractable in their hypocrisy.
You do not know them.
WE know them.
WE shall punish them twice. Further to that, they will be returned to a transcendent consequence.
9:102
And others have acknowledged their trespasses. They had twined a good deed with another dark one. Allah offers hope of
HIS acceptance of their repentance. Of certain, Allah is ever forgiving, ever merciful.
9:103
Take from their goods a charity, which cleanses them, and you will validate them through it. And bless them. Surely, your prayers for blessings upon them are a calming reassurance for them. Allah is all-hearing, ever knowing.
9:104
Do they not know that it is Allah—
HE accepts
HIS devotees’ repentance, and
HE takes the offered alms? Allah is the oft-relenting, the ever merciful.
9:105
Say, “Do [as you intend], then Allah will be seeing your deeds and so will
HIS Messenger and the believers. You are to be returned to the Knower of the unwitnessed and the witnessed. Then
HE will inform you of what you were doing.
9:106
And [there are] others, in suspension, subject to the command of Allah. Either
HE chastises them, or
HE relents towards them. Allah is ever knowing, all-wise.
9:107
[As for] those who have taken up a place of worship [
masjid] spitefully, and disbelievingly, and divisively between the believers, and as an outpost for such who heretofore have been at war with Allah and
HIS Messenger, while they positively and declaratively swear, “We intended nothing but the best”— Allah is witness that they are certain liars.
9:108
Do not stand [in prayer] in it. A mosque founded upon God-consciousness from the very first day has a better claim to your standing in prayer in it. In it are men who love to purify themselves. And Allah loves those who purify themselves.
9:109
Is then one who has founded his edifice upon spiritual consciousness from Allah and for
HIS assent better, or one who has founded his edifice upon the edge of a tottering precipice— so he falls along with it into the fire of
Jahannam? Allah does not guide the ill-intending people.
9:110
Their edifice which they built will not cease to be a misgiving in their hearts, save that their hearts shatter. Allah is ever knowing, all-wise.
9:111
Behold! Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their possessions, that [in exchange] there be for them Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah—they slay, and they are slain. [This is] an ever-true promise upon
HIM in the Torah, and the
Injīl, and the Quran. And who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah! So, rejoice in your transaction, the one you have transacted with
HIM. That is the transcendent attainment
.
9:112
[The attainment of] the ones who repent, the ones who worship
HIM, the ones who praise
HIM, the ones who are in quest [of
HIS assent
], the ones who bow to
HIM, the ones who prostrate to
HIM, the ones who enjoin the right and fair and forbid the immoral, and the ones who are conscientious of the boundaries set by Allah. Convey good tidings to the believers.
9:113
It is not for the Prophet and for those who have embraced Faith that they ask forgiveness for those who associate partners with God, even if they be near of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the reapers of
Jaḥīm [having died in that state]
.
9:114
Abraham’s asking of forgiveness for his father was merely about a [parting] promise he had promised to him personally. When it became clear to him that his father was indeed an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Indeed, Abraham was certainly tender-hearted, forbearing.
9:115
And not ever does Allah let a people go astray after
HE has guided them—until
HE makes categorically clear for them what they must be conscientious about. Behold! Allah is ever knowing of all things.
9:116
Indeed, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth.
HE gives life, and
HE gives death. You do not have a protecting ally or a helper, other than Allah.
9:117
Allah has already relented towards the Prophet and the Emigrants and the Helpers—the ones who followed him in the hour of difficulty, after the hearts of a group among you had almost swerved. Thereafter
HE relented toward them. Indeed, concerning them,
HE is affectionate, ever merciful.
9:118
And upon the three who stayed behind until it got to the point that the earth closed in on them— wide open as it was, and their own souls closed in on them, [
HE extended HIS affection and mercy]. They came to know that they had no place of retreat from Allah except unto
HIM. Then
HE relented toward them, so they may repent. Hearken! Allah is the ready acceptor of repentance.
9:119
O you who have embraced Faith, be conscious of Allah and be with the truthful.
9:120
It is not for the inhabitants of Medina nor for the Bedouins in their vicinity that they contemplate staying back from the Messenger of Allah, and it is not for them that they follow their own personal inclination over his person. That is because there is no thirst which afflicts them, nor weariness, nor hunger in Allah’s cause, nor tread they any ground which enrages the disbelievers, nor a suffering they endure at the hands of the enemy—except that it is recorded as a right deed belonging to them. Behold Allah does not allow any diminishment in the reward of those who do good in devotion to God.
9:121
And they do not spend anything small or big, nor do they traverse a valley, but it is recorded in their favor, so Allah may compensate them by the best of what they were doing.
9:122
It is not for the believers to set out in entirety. So then, why not there be a party of every section of them not setting out—that they may gain understanding of the Faith, and warn their people when they return to them, enabling them to be cautious.
9:123
O you who have embraced Faith, fight those of the disbelievers who encroach on you, and let them find sternness in you. Know that Allah is with those who are conscious of
HIM.
9:124
Whenever a
surah is revealed, there is bound to be one of them who asks, “Which of you has increased his faith by this?” As for those who have embraced Faith— it always does increase their faith, and they rejoice.
9:125
And as for those in whose hearts is a disease—it does add grime over their grime, and they have died while they are disbelievers.
9:126
Do they not see that they are put through a test every year— once or twice? Despite that they do not repent, and neither do they reflect.
9:127
Whenever a
surah is revealed, they look at each other, [as if to say], “Can anyone see [through] you?” Then they withdraw unto themselves.” Allah has alienated their hearts because they are a people who do not care to understand.
9:128
There has indeed come to you a Messenger from amongst yourselves. What confronts you, bears heavily upon him— [he is] one bent on you [being saved]. To the believers, he is affectionate and merciful.
9:129
So [having delivered this message] if they turn away, say, “Allah suffices for me. There is no god except
HIM. Upon
HIM I place my trust.
HE is the
Rabb of the Transcendent Throne.”
