28:2
Those are the signs of the clear book.
28:3
We recite to you from the news of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for people who believe.
28:4
Indeed, Pharaoh exalted himself in the earth and he made its people sects; he behaved arrogantly towards a party of them, slaughtering their sons and letting their women live. Indeed, he was among the evil-doers.
28:5
And We desired to bestow favour on those who were thought weak in the earth, and to make them models, and to make them the inheritors,
28:6
And to establish them in the earth, and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their armies what they were being cautious of from them.
28:7
And We inspired to the mother of Moses, saying, 'Suckle him, then when you fear for him, then throw him into the sea, and do not fear and do not grieve; indeed, We will restore him to you and make him among the messengers.'
28:8
Then the family of Pharaoh picked him up that he may be an enemy to them and grief; indeed, Pharaoh and Haman and their armies were sinners.
28:9
And the wife of Pharaoh said, 'A coolness of eye for me and for you. Do not kill him. It may be that he may profit us, or we may take him as a son.' And they do not perceive.
28:10
And the heart of the mother of Moses became empty; indeed, she was almost surely disclosing him, if not that We bound upon her heart that she may be among the believers.
28:11
And she said to his sister, 'Follow him.' So she looked after him from afar. And they do not perceive.
28:12
And We made unlawful for him the wet nurses before, so she said, 'Shall I direct you to people of a house who will be responsible for him for you and they will be sincere to him?'
28:13
Then We restored him to his mother so that her eye may be cool, and that she may not grieve and that she may know that the promise of God is true, But most of them do not know.
28:14
And when he reached his strength and was mature, We gave him judgement and knowledge; and thus We recompense the good-doers.
28:15
And he entered the city at a time of heedlessness of its people, then he found in it two men fighting one another; this of his sect and this of his enemy. Then the one who was of his sect sought his aid against the one who was of his enemy; then Moses struck him with his fist and finished him. He said, 'This is of the work of the devil. Indeed, he is a misleading clear enemy.'
28:16
He said, 'My Lord! Indeed I, I have wronged my soul, so forgive me.' Then He forgave him; indeed He, He is the Forgiving, the Compassionate.
28:17
He said, 'My Lord! Because you have bestowed favour on me, so I will not be an assistant to the sinners.'
28:18
Then in the morning he was in the city in fear, being vigilant, then behold, the one who sought his help the day past cried out to him for help. Moses said to him, 'Indeed, you are surely one clearly erring.'
28:19
Then when that he desired to assault the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, 'O Moses! Do you desire to kill me as you killed a soul yesterday? You desire not except to be a tyrant in the earth, and you do not desire to be among the reformers.'
28:20
And a man came from the farthest part of the city running, he said, 'O Moses! Indeed, the chiefs are deliberating about you to kill you, so go forth; indeed, I am to you among the sincere advisers.'
28:21
So he went forth from it in fear, being vigilant. He said, 'My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.'
28:22
And when he turned his face towards Midian, he said, 'It may be my Lord that He will guide me to the right direction of the way.'
28:23
And when he came to the water of Midian, he found upon it a nation of people watering, and he found beside them two women keeping away. He said, 'What is your affair?' They said, 'We do not water until the pastors send back, and our father is a greatly old man.'
28:24
So he watered for them; then he turned away to the shade then said, 'My Lord! Indeed, I am needy of what you send down to me of good.'
28:25
Then one of them came to him walking shyly, she said, 'Indeed, my father calls you that he may recompense you a reward for what you watered for us.' Then when he came to him and narrated the story to him, he said, 'Do not fear, you have been saved from the wrongdoing people.'
28:26
One of them said, 'O my father! Hire him, indeed, the best of who you hired is the strong, the trustworthy.'
28:27
He said, 'Indeed, I desire to give one of these two daughters of mine in marriage to you on condition that you serve me for hire eight pilgrimages, and if you complete ten, then from you; and I do not desire to be burdensome on you, soon you will find me, if God wills, among the righteous.'
28:28
He said, 'That is between me and you, whichever of the two terms I complete then no enmity against me, and God is a trustee over what we say.'
28:29
Then when Moses had completed the term, and travelled with his family, he perceived a fire from the side of the mount. He said to his family, 'Stay here; indeed I, I have perceived a fire, perhaps I may come to you from it with news or a firebrand from the fire perhaps you may warm yourselves.'
28:30
Then when he came to it, he was called from the right shore of the valley, in the blessed place from the tree, saying, 'O Moses! Indeed I, I am God, the Lord of the worlds;
28:31
And saying, ‘Throw down your staff;' then when he saw it quivering as if it were a snake, he turned back, retreating and did not return. 'O Moses! Approach and do not fear, indeed, you are among the safe ones.
28:32
Insert your hand in your bosom, it will come forth white without evil; and draw together to you your wing against the fear. So those are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs; indeed, they are disobedient people.'
28:33
He said, 'My Lord! Indeed I, I killed a soul among them, and I fear that they will kill me.
28:34
And my brother Aaron, he is more eloquent than me in language, so send him with me as support, to verify me; indeed, I fear that they will call me a liar.'
28:35
He said, 'Soon We will strengthen your upper arm with your brother; and We will make authority for both of you, so they will not reach you. With Our signs, both of you and whoever followed you will be the overcomers.'
28:36
Then when Moses came to them with Our signs, clear proofs, they said, 'This is not except forged magic; and we heard not of this among our forefathers, the former people.'
28:37
And Moses said, 'My Lord knows best who came with the guidance from Him, and for whom is the end of the home; indeed, the wrongdoers will not prosper.'
28:38
And Pharaoh said, 'O chiefs! I knew not of a god for you other than me; so kindle for me, O Haman! Upon the clay and make for me a tower, perhaps I may look at the God of Moses; and indeed I, surely I think he is among the liars.'
28:39
And he was proud, he and his armies in the earth without the right; and they thought that they would not be returned to Us.
28:40
So We seized him and his armies and We threw them in the sea; so see how the end of the wrongdoers was.
28:41
And We made them models calling to the fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
28:42
And We caused a curse to follow them in this, the world; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the ugly.
28:43
And surely, certainly We gave Moses the Book after We destroyed the former generations; insights for mankind and guidance and mercy, perhaps they may remember.
28:44
And you were not by the side of the western when We decreed to Moses the command; and you were not among the witnesses.
28:45
But We, We produced generations, then We made the life prolonged upon them. And you were not a dweller among the people of Midian, reciting to them Our signs, but We, We were sending.
28:46
And you were not by the side of the mount when We called, but mercy from your Lord, that you may warn people to whom no warner came before you, perhaps they may remember.
28:47
And if not that, a calamity may befall them for what their hands have sent forward, then they would say, 'Our Lord! If only You had sent a messenger to us, then we would have followed Your signs and we would have been among the believers.'
28:48
Then when the truth came to them from Us they said, 'If only he was given like what was given to Moses.' And did they not disbelieve in what was given to Moses before? They said, 'Two works of magic they assisted one another;' and they said, 'Indeed, we disbelieve in all.'
28:49
Say, 'Then come with a book from God, it is a better guide than both of them, follow it if you are truthful.'
28:50
Then if they do not respond to you, then know that they only follow their lusts; and who is more astray than one who follows his lust without guidance from God? Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
28:51
And surely, certainly We have communicated the speech to them, perhaps they may remember.
28:52
Those to whom We gave the Book before it, they believe in it;
28:53
And when it is recited to them they say, ‘We have believed in it. Indeed, it is the truth from Our Lord. Indeed we, we were submitters before it.'
28:54
Those will be given their reward twice, because they were patient, and they avert the evil with the good, and from what We have provided them they spend.
28:55
And when they hear the foolish talk, they turn away from it and they say, 'For us our works and for you your works. Peace be on you, we do not seek the ignorant ones.'
28:56
Indeed you, you do not guide whom you have loved, but God guides whom He wills; and He knows best of the guided ones.
28:57
And they said, 'If we follow the guidance with you, we would be snatched away from our land.' And did We not establish for them a safe sanctuary? Fruits of everything are collected to it, provision from Us, but most of them do not know.
28:58
And how many a town which was discontented with its livelihood have We destroyed? So those are their dwellings, not dwelt in after them, except a little; and We, We are the inheritors.
28:59
And your Lord would not destroy the towns until He sends a messenger in their mother to recite to them Our signs; and We would not destroy the towns except while their people are wrongdoers.
28:60
And whatever thing you have been given, then a provision of the worldly life and its adornment. And what is with God is better and more lasting; so will you not become intelligent?
28:61
So is one who We have promised him a good promise and he will meet it, like one who We have provided him with the enjoyment of the worldly life, then he, on the Day of Resurrection, will be among the arraigned?
28:62
And on the day He will call them, then He will say, 'Where are My partners, those whom you used to claim?'
28:63
Those against whom the speech is due will say, 'Our Lord! These are those whom we caused to err; we caused them to err like we erred. We clear ourselves to You, not us they were worshipping.'
28:64
And it will be said, 'Call on your partners;' then they will call on them, and they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment; if only that they were guided.
28:65
And on the day He will call them, then He will say, 'What responded you to the messengers?'
28:66
Then the information will be obscure to them on that day, and they will not ask one another.
28:67
And as for one who repented and believed and did right, then it may be that he will be among the prosperous.
28:68
And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses; there is not for them the choice. Glory be to God and exalted is He from what they associate.
28:69
And your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they publish.
28:70
And He is God, there is no god but He; for Him is the praise in the first and the last; and for Him is the judgment; and to Him you will be returned.
28:71
Say, 'Have you seen if God made the night endless on you until the Day of Resurrection, who is a god other than God to come to you with light? So will you not hear?'
28:72
Say, 'Have you seen if God made the day endless until the Day of Resurrection, who is a god other than God to come to you with night to rest in it? So will you not see?'
28:73
And of His mercy He made the night and the day for you, that you may rest in it, and that you may seek of His grace, and perhaps you may give thanks.
28:74
And on the day He will call them, then He will say, 'Where are My partners, those whom you used to claim?'
28:75
And We will pull out a witness from every nation, then We will say, 'Bring your proof,' Then they will know that the truth is for God; and what they used to forge will go astray from them.
28:76
Indeed, Korah was among the people of Moses, then he committed outrage on them; and We gave him of the treasures what indeed its keys would surely weigh down the band, the possessors of strength. When his people said to him, 'Do not exult, indeed, God does not love those who exult.
28:77
And seek the Last Home with what God gave you; and do not forget your portion of the world, and do good, like God did good to you; and do not seek corruption in the earth, indeed, God does not love the evil-doers.'
28:78
He said, 'I was only given it upon knowledge with me.' And did he not know that God, certainly, He destroyed before him among the generations, he who was stronger than him in strength and more in collection? And the sinners will not be asked about their sins.
28:79
Then he went forth to his people in his adornment. Those who desire the life of the world said, 'O would that we had like what Korah was given. Indeed, he is surely a possessor of great fortune.'
28:80
And those who were given the knowledge said, 'Woe to you! The reward of God is better for one who believed and did right; and none except the patient ones are granted it.'
28:81
Then We caused the earth to sink with him and with his home. Then there was no troop for him to help him besides God, and he was not among the victorious.
28:82
And in the morning, those who wished for his place the day past were saying, 'Woe to you that! God extends the provision to whom He wills of His servants and He straitens; if not that God had bestowed favour on us, He surely would have caused to sink with us. Woe to you that he! The disbelievers will not prosper.'
28:83
That, the Last Home, We make it for those who do not desire exaltedness in the earth, nor corruption, and the end is for those who fear.
28:84
Whoever came with the good deed then for him is better than it; and whoever came with the evil deed, then those who did the evil deeds will not be recompensed except what they used to do.
28:85
Indeed, the one who enjoined upon you the Quran will surely restore you to a place of return. Say, 'My Lord knows best who came with the guidance and who he is in clear error.'
28:86
And you were not hoping that the Book would be thrown to you, except mercy from your Lord. So definitely do not be an assistant to the disbelievers.
28:87
And definitely do not let them hinder you from the signs of God after they have been sent down to you; and call to your Lord; and definitely do not be among the idolaters.
28:88
And do not call on another god with God; there is no god but He. Everything will perish except His face; For Him is the judgment, and to Him you will be returned.
